Full Time Job
The Director, Original Movies & Limited Series will play a meaningful role in the continued growth and launch of the Original Movies and Limited Series division in the MTV Entertainment Group (MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Smithsonian Channel, Pop, CMT, VH1, TVLand, Logo). The unit's directive is to mine the ViacomCBS library of IP for new original movies and limited series for networks in the portfolio as well as other outlets across the company, including CBS, Channel 5, Network 10 and Paramount . This position will work with senior executives and report to the VP, Original Movies and Limited Series and have responsibility in all aspects of development and production.
Responsibilities
• Support the scripted development and production slate at MTV Entertainment Group
• Have the ability to guide all creative aspects of the development process – vetting and screening pitches/submissions, identifying talent and mining IP
• Shown understanding of structure, story and character development
• Serve as a creative partner providing writer/director/cast/staffing ideas, script notes, feedback on dailies/cuts
• Coordinate project support with department reps internally & externally
• Research, source and develop internal IP that aligns with our brands
• Have current awareness of new talent and pop culture
• Ensure a consistent level of quality is achieved and maintained on all creative fronts
• Cultivate new relationships and use existing relationships with producers, agents, production companies and talent
• Develop a culture of creative risk-taking and fiscal responsibility
• The candidate should be self-motivated, hardworking and able to work well in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills and project management skills are a must
Basic Qualifications
• 6 years of scripted series/movie development experience at a network, studio, streamer or production company
Additional Qualifications
• Must have established and positive relationships with producers, directors, writers, agents, talent, and the creative community in general
• Must be able to independently supervise the development of a project from treatment through production, working in conjunction with our production group
• Strong writing skills; must be proficient at writing network notes on scripts and cuts
• Strong story development skills, and the ability to build a collaborative environment with producers, writers, and directors
• Must have strong communication skills
• Must be motivated, organized, and a self-starter
