Who are we hiring?
The Social Media Coordinator will support the Rangers content team by ideating, creating, publishing and tracking social media content. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how people digest and engage with social content, an eye for detail, and stay up-to-date on cultural trends and industry best practices, especially as it pertains to emerging platforms (i.e. TikTok). This position reports to the Senior Manager of Digital Strategy & Content and will collaborate with the content team around team coverage, tentpole events, marketing partnerships, community programs and more.
What will you do?
• Assist in managing the Rangers’ official social media accounts, with a focus on content development and publishing for TikTok, YouTube and the Junior Rangers accounts.
• Work alongside VIP Relations and creative producer to source, collaborate with and create content with/for a stable of influencers/content creators.
• Liaise with Marketing Partnerships on content execution, especially as it relates to Junior Rangers; track content requirements and fulfillment
• Collaborate with analytics and insights teams on content reporting, surfacing insights and providing learnings from day-to-day posts and campaigns
• Stay on top of social media trends and integrate new opportunities for the Rangers’ social presence, particularly with regards to emerging platforms
• Attend and cover Rangers events, including home games, community initiatives, and other team events, with the goal of sharing compelling content that captures attention
• Be available to work Rangers games based on team schedule which occur nights/evening/weekends/holidays as needed
What do you need to succeed?
• 1-2 years experience working in the sports industry in a similar role
• Understanding of current and emerging social media platforms and trends
• Must be able to work Rangers games based on team schedule as needed; this includes remote coverage of road games
• Experience with social media measurement tools such as Sprout, Tableau and CrowdTangle
• Experience operating social media platforms for a brand or team
• Experience in ClipPro, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere
• Knowledge of the NHL and the Rangers, including performance and stats, industry trends and hockey culture
• Strong written communication skills, including copywriting, proofreading and the ability to write copy specific to platforms
• Versatile interpersonal skills and professionalism to work across multiple environments and departments
• Detail oriented with a track record of managing multiple projects at once and delivering on time
• Ability work autonomously, but also able to sync accordingly with full cross-department planning
