Who are we hiring?
MSG is looking for an experienced Technical Colorist to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. This role is responsible for working with the Finishing Department. The Technical Colorist will develop and maintain the working color pipeline within the post-production department and will also act as a liaison for guest talent on Sphere projects inside and outside of our facility, working closely with creatives from image acquisition through to delivery.
The Technical Colorist role will work as an artist applying color at various stages from dailies processing through VFX and into final picture finishing and delivery. This position requires a collaborative, hands-on artist who can work as an integrated member of a team for Sphere.
The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive prior experience in picture finishing color workflows on major A-list projects. They will need to have solid aesthetics along with strong technical experience and problem-solving capability.
What will you do?
• Develop and apply color looks from dailies to delivery.
• Work alongside our Imaging, Display, and Pipeline teams to optimize color science and workflows.
• Work closely with Head of Capture allowing for technical and creative adjustments.
• Create and manage color projects.
• Manage and QC deliverables ensuring adherence to Sphere specifications.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration with department heads, artists and crew from the capture, editorial, VFX and creative teams.
What do you need to succeed?
• Minimum of 8 year’s experience in coloring and digital imagery across a variety of content including film, advertising and commercials.
• Knowledge of ACES color workflows, custom camera color pipelines and picture finishing processing techniques.
• Expert level mastery of color correction and conform in Baselight and/or Resolve.
• Experience with a wide range of camera raw and metadata formats.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines while maintaining team cohesion.
• Previous experience as Colorist of live action films, cinema, experiences – ideal candidate has color background on LED surfaces from post to mastering.
