The Senior Director Finance is responsible for the management and oversight of all financial aspects for MSG Productions (including the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes and Venue Tours) and the Marketing & Communications groups. The Senior Director holds a leadership role within the Productions and Marketing & Communications management teams, focusing on the development of Annual Strategic Plans, Budgets and monthly Business Reviews and Forecasts. They are responsible for representing the financial point of view in executive discussions and providing senior finance leadership and counsel to the EVP & CFO MSGE, EVP of Productions and EVP of Marketing and Communications. The Senior Director also has financial oversight of all Productions related events including the tracking and reporting of ticket sales and fees, event production expenses, marketing and ticketing expenses, in addition to all departmental overhead expenses and compensation, with a focus on identifying savings and process improvement opportunities. Additionally, the Senior Director works on special projects including but not limited to supporting union contract negotiations, supporting month-end close procedures, and MD&A commentary/variance support.
What will you do?
• Act as the matter expert for all financial and operational aspects associated with the Christmas Spectacular, related to labor and non-labor expenses. Expertise will include all union agreements, work rules and applicable rate cards. In addition, the Senior Director will be the subject matter expert for all financial and operational aspects of the Marketing & Communications division.
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of detailed expense tracking reports for various areas of the business including production expenses, marketing, and ticketing expenses for the Christmas Spectacular and detail overhead reporting for Productions and Marketing & Communications divisions.
• In conjunction with the Accounting team, oversee the month-end close process to ensure financials are in accordance with GAAP and aligned with senior management reporting. Upon month-end close, be responsible for the reporting and variance commentary related to the Productions and Marketing & Communication P&Ls.
• Develop the consolidated annual budget, long term plan, monthly business reviews, and monthly forecasts, including the creation of the executive presentation and support materials.
• Assist in the quantification and review of assumptions with operations personnel and divisional management. Discuss key issues, risks and opportunities and gather zero-based Budget detail and confirm the fact-based nature of assumptions.
• Provide financial support with respect to negotiations of union collective bargaining agreements, including calculating costs of company and union proposals.
• Assist with establishing annual Goals, Strategies & Tactics and provide tracking updates throughout the year.
• Provide supporting documentation and commentary related to the MD&A section of 10Q/10K.
• Develop and train current team with a focus on coaching and career development.
What do you need to succeed?
• BS, BA or related degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience
• 10 years of work experience ideally within the live entertainment and/or theatrical industry preferred
• Strong financial modeling skills in Excel
• Deep understanding of financial systems desired, but not required
• Experience in Oracle and Hyperion desired, but not required

$134,000 — $220,000 USD
