This is a Full Time Job
The Playback Operator role will be joining the growing Sphere team of Sphere Studios based in Burbank, California. This role will provide daily media server programming and operating across multiple technical assets in Sphere Studios with the purpose of programming, operating and managing content for various studio projects. The candidate will work to collaborate with Sphere Vegas on best practices and successful show delivery.
What will you do?
• Coordinate media preparation and loading of files for our 16k LED display
• Program and Operate playback sessions for internal and external vendors
• Learn various hardware and software to support Sphere Studio's high-performance needs
• Work with studio departments to optimize the daily workflow of playback hardware and software
• Provide playback services on high profile reviews with executives, creatives, internal and external
• Apply critical thinking and new learnings towards the betterment of Sphere Studios
• Other duties as assigned
• This is a 100% onsite role, with limited potential for remote work
• Must be flexible with work hours; this role performs on “Production Time†with the potential for hours taking place outside of the traditional 9-5, including nights, weekend, and holidays.
What do you need to succeed?
• Degree in engineering, theatre design, or interactive arts, or equivalent work experience
• Previous experience as a disguise Media Sever programmer or similar role
• Live Production or Studio Playback experience
• Experience with large format multi-processor systems is preferred
• Experience with Media Servers such as disguise, 7th Sense, Pixera, Hippo, or Resolume is a must
• Experience with Notch, Unreal, Touch Designer or Unity is a bonus
• Experience with LED Screens and processing systems
• Show Control Programming experience is encouraged
• Experience working with large file formats and media management
• Experience and working knowledge of codecs and image sequences such as NotchLC, DPX, HAP
• Knowledge of video routing systems, broadcast solutions, and AV IT networking
• A confident, professional, and persuasive communication style with senior leaders and team members
• A passion for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking
• Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations.

$118,000 — $145,000 USD
