Who are we hiring?
The Litigation Counsel in Legal and Business Affairs is responsible for assistance in the management of litigation, pre-litigation matters, and internal investigations across the organization as well as the initial research and writing of first draft briefing, spanning from discovery motions and motions to dismiss to later-stage motion practice. Litigation counsel will also assist the VP of litigation and the Chief Litigator across the MSG Companies manage legal spend and track case developments.
What will you do?
• Assist in the review of all new lawsuits filed against the MSG family of Companies and work with the litigation team to develop a strategy, research related to potential counterclaims, viability of motions to dismiss, change of venue and personal jurisdiction arguments, and other tactical considerations.
• Responsible for, in some instances, and assisting with, in other instances, the initial drafting, review, and editing of briefing through all stages of litigation–from motions to dismiss, to discovery motion practice, to dispositive briefing.
• Assist in the assessment of claim strength related to lawsuits the Companies may want to file, and analysis of background facts related to same.
• Support of VP of litigation in fact development and analysis related to potential claims (pre-litigation) and established claims, including interviewing employees, coordinating and liaising with various Company stakeholders, and document analysis to assess the viability and veracity of claims or allegations.
• Support the litigation team with the subpoena analysis, document and video gathering and review, and response, often in the third-party context but sometimes as a party to a suit.
• Support the litigation team in the handling of government inquiries and internal investigations, including with respect to ethics complaints, whistleblower escalations, and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Initial diligence and, at times, drafting responses to discovery requests, subpoenas and third-party requests for information.
• Monitoring and regularly reporting on litigation developments to the VP of Litigation and the Chief Litigation Officer.
• Contributing to Legal Department and Company-wide projects.
• Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What do you need to succeed?
• Legal education and JD from top accredited law school
• 4 years practicing litigation at a sophisticated level at a law firm, government agency and/or in-house legal department.
• Strong legal research and writing ability, analytical skills, independent and strategic thinking, and excellent judgment.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team overseeing multiple assignments and briefing tasks simultaneously, sometimes on truncated deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Experience with e-discovery platforms.
• Member of New York Bar or registered with New York's Appellate Division as in-house counsel.

Salary/Benefits
$175,000 - $195,000 /year USD
