Production Assistant - Social Media, MS NOW
Job Description
MS NOW Digital is seeking a Social Media Production Assistant to join our digital team. If you're passionate about politics and breaking news, thrive in fast-paced newsrooms, and love creating compelling social content, this role is for you. The position requires strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and a keen eye for timely, impactful storytelling across platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor breaking news and ensure timely clipping, editing, and posting for social platforms
• Collaborate with Associate Producers and Producers to edit video and graphics
• Create and publish engaging graphics, and photo posts for Instagram and TikTok
• Research and fact-check stories quickly and accurately
• Support daily marketing efforts and promotional content for social platforms
• Identify and flag standout video and audio clips for content
• Pitch creative, engaging social media stories (both daily and long-term)
• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Executive Producer (e.g., decks, research)
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in social media / news production (including internships)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms, audiences, and trends
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere for video editing
• Expertise in Canva, Figma, and Adobe Photoshop
• Familiarity with digital production gear (cameras, microphones, etc.)

Additional Job Requirements:
• Must work in New York City
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and different shifts for breaking news (evenings, weekends)
• Hybrid 3 days in office
