Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) is seeking an experienced manager to lead our Audit & Collections Department into the future and take things to the next level in the position of Manager. This position will supervise and lead a large department of payroll compliance auditors as well as team of collections personnel and report to the Plans' Director of Employer Services.
The Department
At the MPI, the Audit and Collections Department conducts audits of employers and participants for an employer-sponsored and employer funded benefit plans on behalf of various Industry guilds and motion picture/television crafts. Contributions for Participants are determined by collective bargaining agreements and are based on hours worked by those participants. Those hours translate into eligibility for the MPI Health and Welfare Plan, as well as Pension Plan credits towards a Retirement Benefit.

Entertainment Industry knowledge and experience.
Analytical and critical thinking.

Thinks strategically while looking for new ways to increase team efficiency.
Sound judgment when making decisions and dealing with others.
Understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Able to prioritize work, follow it through to completion and positively respond to changing priorities.
Experience in systems assessments and implementations.
Outstanding presentation skills and the ability to adapt on the go.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage Department Staff: Determine appropriate organizational structure and staffing level for the department, implement that plan with the Director. Manage the department supervisors with respect to their day-to-day work and the supervisors' teams.
Reviewing: Review payroll audits, legal referrals, participant & employer letters, committee minutes, settlement offers, annual audit plan, audit progress reports, job applicants, employer agreements and much more.
Preparation of: audit memos, the audit program, performance metrics, annual budgets, correspondence to employers, Board of Directors and Board Committees.
Reporting and Projects: Audit system assessment, authenticity program implementation, report on status of Payroll & Residuals Audit programs. Special projects as needed.
Other: Presentation at Audit & Collections committee meetings and Benefits Appeals Committee Meetings.
Qualifications
BA or BS degree in Business Administration or related and/or equivalent experience
Prior trust fund experience preferred
Current CA driver's license and clear DMV record, requires occasional local travel within the Los Angeles area
Strong management skills and experience
Experience and understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements and interpretation thereof
Familiarity with ERISA and DOL guidelines
Computer savvy with intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel, as well as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent attendance and reliability, with the ability to work overtime/extended hours as required.
Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff as well as outside Business Partners, law firms, Local Union Business agents and MPI' Board of Directors
