Paralegal / Administrator
MPCA is seeking a talented, organized and motivated Paralegal / Administrator in our Los Angeles office to handle various tasks relating to the development and production of entertainment programming. This opportunity affords the Paralegal / Administrator the opportunity to work at an established growing company with career growth and broad exposure. This position reports to both the CFO and Head of Business Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Draft and review/revise contracts and other legal documents for review and approval
Assist with production related loans
Assist with tax credit applications
Assist with guild set-up on a production by production basis
Assist with chain of title on entertainment projects
Register copyrights with the U.S. Copyright Office
Liaise with internal stakeholders and outside vendors
Draft or review contracts such as vendor agreements for other departments, such as Finance, HR, IT, etc.
Prepare reports, summaries, memos and analyses of agreements and other matters
Draft and update charts, memoranda, internal trackers and agendas
Maintain an organized and up-to-date digital filing system
Point person for the company on benefits related matters
Track options and send notifications when options are set to expire
Provide support on business and legal matters on an ad hoc basis
Coordinate with outside counsel on various matters
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
3+ years of Paralegal/Legal Assistant experience
Experience at a reputable law firm, studio or network preferred
Exposure to the Entertainment industry is a plus
Prior experience with contracts and/or corporate matters
Proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Word and Excel
Superior organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload efficiently and effectively, and excellent attention to detail
Excellent analytical and drafting skills
High level of professionalism and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
Ability to build business acumen and understand core elements of the business
Excellent judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong initiative, flexibility and ability to work autonomously, while also being a strong and supportive member of the team, are essential.
Ability to handle a high volume of work, and work through projects with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to execute and follow through
