Role Summary
This role will support the CPE team in development of Moonbug CPE business and help achieve/exceed CPE revenue targets within the Asia region.
Responsibilities
Plan, develop and deliver the Asia Consumer Products Strategy
• Support the local Consumer Product Team so that they achieve, and exceed, licensing revenue generation for Asia region, as well collaborating with the wider global Consumer Product Team.
• Track and stay up to date on competitive landscape, macro-industry and licensing-specific trends to identify gaps in category/licensee portfolios and target new partners to fill these.
• Prioritise on supporting the consumer product strategy in growth areas across North Asia, with a particular focus on Greater China and Japan.
Account Support
• Support the Agent and Licensee relationships ensuring engagement and alignment through joint business planning.
• Provide regular updates to the line manager, and wider Consumer Products Team (where applicable), on the status of business deals and potential business pipelines.
• Identify potential new Licensees to enhance category growth and to maximise white space opportunities.
• Provide support, information and relevant materials to Licensees including property overview presentations, category success stories, ratings, press stories in order to keep Moonbug properties front of mind with licensees to drive success at retail.
Retail
• Support CPE Team to maximize Direct To Retail business with Key Partners
• Partner closely with Agents and Licensees to deliver cross-category retail activations
• Support the growth of our e-commerce business, as well as analysing performance with partnerships and making recommendations to whether to exit low performing partnerships or provide further support to improve and build on their performances.
Finance
• Support CPE Team to manage Agents on quarterly forecasts and royalty report submissions.
• Liaise with the credit teams to retrieve cash due, overdue royalties and missing report statements.
Legal & Contract Management
• Support the team in the deal memo process, including credit, legal, commercial and brand approvals, through to deal completion
• Ensure all rights are cleared in the early stages of deal negotiations
• Track and plan contract end dates to ensure timely execution and negotiation of all new contracts, ensuring deals are closed and fully executed ahead of contract start date
• Process deals through the appropriate systems, whilst ensuring appropriate Legal approvals
• Track, file and manage all sub-licensee contracts from Agents if needed
Team & Culture
• Demonstrate an inclusive and collaborative mind-set when working with all stakeholders (local and global teams)
• Champion and promote the needs of licensees within broader moonbug organization
• Work closely with the following departments: LOBs in local markets, Ad Sales, Marketing, Creative, , Production, LBE, Legal, Retail etc. to ensure maximum franchise support and that all licensees make best efforts to tie into any tent pole themes/promotional events when applicable
• Successfully navigate internal structures to ensure optimum speed to market develop tools to keep stakeholders informed (product catalogues, licensee events, newsletters, web environment, etc.)
Requirements
• Solid licensing experience across Asia, specially within Greater China & Japan
• Commercial experience ideally in consumer products or licensing
• Bachelor's or equivalent degree
• Excellent oral, written and communication skills in English and Mandarin. Japense would be an advantage.
• Demonstratable experience of working across and understanding multiple regional cultures
• Strong interpersonal skills to face both internal and external
• Strong time management, organizational and follow up skills
• Able to successfully prioritise workload and increase productivity
• Insightful and persuasive, able to identify commercial opportunities and align our brands to those opportunities
• Strong negotiator, able to optimise your success and profitability of deals, including higher royalty rates, paymen schedules and MGs
• Capable decision maker, able to creatively problem solve to get to a solution fast.
• Financially literate, always happy to dig into numbers from the ground up. Clear understanding of licensee financials, forecast, range selections and delivery of budget numbers.
