The Role:
Moonbug is seeking a Management Accountant focused on revenue and cost of sales to support the growing Finance team. This role is based in our London office in the heart of Camden Town. At Moonbug, you will be working with some of the biggest brands in family entertainment; this is an exciting role and opportunity for someone looking to enter the media industry.
You will be responsible for overseeing some of our revenue streams which can include VOD services, Music platforms and productions. Each revenue stream has a different business model and a corresponding, often complex contract any familiarity with commercial contracts would be hugely beneficial and highly regarded. Every day is different in Moonbug. To thrive, you will have a flexible, can-do mindset, always looking at how to improve processes and do more with less to improve the speed and accuracy of revenue transactions. A background in media would help, but more important is the ability to deal with ambiguity, and a truly fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Business partnering with commercial finance, legal, and sales teams in order to accurately recognise revenue on a monthly basis.
• Drive revenue accounting month-end close processes by creating and validating accruals, preparing and posting journal entries whilst ensuring policy compliance, all to agreed timelines.
• Creation of invoice requests for selected revenue streams, ensuring accuracy in pricing and customer details, working with other functions to resolve any billing discrepancies and collaborating with other departments to streamline the billing process and address customer inquiries related to invoices
• Gain a solid understanding of business transactions and accounting flow, whilst identifying and recommending continuous improvement initiatives related to revenue processes, championing any new processes which support the departmental and organisational objectives.
• Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, mainly accrued revenue, deferred revenue and accrued expenses.
• Document sales contracts and related revenue accounting treatment in accordance with company policies.
• Assistance with budgeting and forecasting across revenue streams, as required.
• Involvement in the annual audit process for the Group.
• Other ad-hoc tasks as and when these arise.
Requirements
• You are keen, flexible with several years' experience working in a dynamic Finance department
• Attention to detail and being a completer-finisher with a proactive mindset
• The ability to understand the bigger picture and how inputs and outputs from the Finance team can affect the business
• Able to prioritise with enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment
• Being a team player with strong interpersonal skills to contribute to company values and team culture
• Advanced Excel skills is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with audit processes
• Previous experience in the media industry is preferred
• Experience working with USGAAP as well as UKGAAP would be a bonus
• Experience working with Netsuite and / or Salesforce would be a bonus
Qualifications
• ACCA / CIMA qualified part qualified or equivalent - required
