The Vice President, Internal Communications sets and leads MSE's internal communications strategy and employee engagement across the company and supports several C-suite executives with numerous types of communications, including but not limited to organizational announcements, town hall remarks, HR communications, company news, etc.
Reporting directly to the Chief Strategic and Corporate Communications Officer, the Vice President is a member of the Strategic and Corporate Communications Leadership team. An important responsibility of MSE's Strategic and Corporate Communications team is to advance, elevate, protect and celebrate the largest integrated sports and entertainment company in the country with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports.
As such, the leader in this role will have a laser-like focus on improving employee engagement, setting editorial direction, and amplifying the company's strategic narrative to MSE's employees on all platforms while serving MSE's senior-most leaders.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned practitioner who has worked in a global capacity and with high-ranking executives in highly matrixed B2B, B2C, and B2G organizations – driving consistency and underscoring the benefits of the employee value proposition. They will drive activities across the full spectrum of channels and platforms, new and yet-to-be-developed, measuring their effectiveness and exploring new approaches and technology enhancements, including mobile capabilities.
They will be responsible for producing bold, creative, strategic campaigns and deliverables with engaging content on the company's priorities, what makes MSE a great place to work, our digital transformation, and how we deliver a competitive advantage to our fans, partners, and intermediaries.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise and ensure quality and consistency of all internal employee events, programs, email messages, video scripts, etc., involving C-suite executives – including packaging speaking opportunities in an easily digestible and visual way that drives awareness and more collaboration among employees
• Work with the creative and video Productions services team to executive-produce quarterly corporate global town halls, including executive support such as scripting and Q&A, slide production, speech/presentation coaching, and invitation and viewing room management
• Gain an understanding of the various personas of our employee base to build compelling channels, content, messaging, packaging, and re-purposing of news and information tailored for these audiences – from individuals in the field, across all regions, newly acquired employees, corporate functions, etc.
• Lead the development and execution of MSE's internal engagement plan aligned with the company's narrative to effectively articulate its strategy and successes
• Build and guide MSE's Internal Communications Center of Excellence (CoE), enhancing its strategy and roadmap to support the company's evolution, addressing employees' preferences, and promote best practices across regions, functions, and businesses
• Lead and professionally develop a global internal communications team, including matrixed relationships in regions and functions
• Maintain internal communications stylebook and guidelines for all internal communicators and build awareness among all Marketing and Investor Relations teammates
• Surface ideas and enhancements to stimulate employee experiences including programs, events, and interactions that demonstrate the company's ambitions and growth
• Continue to evolve MSE's social/intranet platform, through both improved storytelling/editorial and, working in tandem with technology, greater functionality including AI tools integration; expand use of a complementary intranet platform
• Proactively solicit input for deepening employee engagement across the company by working with all team members, business unit and functional leadership
• Work directly with senior leaders to produce a wide variety of content in multiple forms to reinforce MSE's culture
• Manage and provide direction for the internal email platform used for large-scale messages, including CEO letters and key organization announcements
• Measure, track, and continuously improve employee engagement and communication metrics
Minimum Qualifications:
• 10-15 years' experience in corporate communications within publicly traded companies, retail or media/entertainment industry, and/or agency.
• Demonstrated understanding of the financial and corporate communications and capital markets.
• Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional media relations capabilities and the ability to translate complex topics to simple, compelling narratives and serve as a spokesperson.
• Track record of developing strategic, impactful communications plans across earned, owned, and paid that align with business priorities.
• Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
• Proven ability in working across different regions and times zones to drive global communications strategies and activations.
• Strong project and team management skills and attention to detail.
Pay Range: $200 - 250k USD.
