Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) Corporate Communications is looking for a Director of Corporate Communications based in Washington, DC, to support strategic and corporate communications priorities. This includes assisting in crafting corporate narratives, developing spokesperson messaging, expertly handling both proactive and reactive media engagements, and coordinating multifaceted communications rollouts for various firm announcements/publications. This remit will include supporting the transparency of our stewardship efforts on behalf of our fans, owners, and external stakeholders, as well as assisting with communications associated with our league-leading teams.
The role reports directly to the Vice President, Corporate and Brand Communications and is a part of the Corporate and Brand Communications function. The Director, is responsible for assisting in building the executive communications strategy for several of our Corporate Functions. They will create and deploy corporate communications strategies, campaigns and resources to introduce signature enterprise resources, share business developments, and advance MSE's strategic agenda
They will develop and deliver tailored executive communication strategies for MSE's leadership in support of corporate priorities, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on communication matters and supporting change management initiatives.
They will assist in elevating MSE's public presence by supporting executive engagement in targeted media interviews and industry events to educate and influence key stakeholders. Additionally, they will help to lead a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and engagement
The director will harness the power of digital enablement, including artificial intelligence and project management tools, to improve efficiency and the quality of the work the team delivers. They will also help to define and fulfill executive communications service level agreements that are anchored in key business priorities and needs and can flex to address surges. They will assist in the creation and distribution of content across various channels, including speeches, presentations, interviews, and digital platforms.
About Corporate Communications
Reporting directly to the Chief Strategic and Corporate Communications Officer, the Vice President is a member of the Strategic and Corporate Communications Leadership team. An important responsibility of MSE's Strategic and Corporate Communications team is to advance, elevate, protect and celebrate the largest integrated sports and entertainment company in the country with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports.
This position is responsible for driving compelling corporate communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that will enhance MSE's culture, drive growth, strengthen MSE's reputation, and build our brand with external audiences and investors.
Responsibilities
• Partner closely with senior executives, business leaders, marketing, government affairs, and other members of the Corporate Communications team to develop proactive, multi-channel communications rollouts that leverage storytelling.
• Plan and drive innovative media engagement programs that build greater understanding and recognition of our brand, businesses, and social contributions.
• Help create core narratives and accompanying storylines for media interviews, article placements, and additional opportunities on social/other platforms.
• Maintain strong relationships with media and continuously build new relationships (across print/broadcast/online) including with business/financial media, trade, and national media.
• Demonstrate a deep experience developing a full range of press materials including press releases, media statements, key messages, media Q&As, and briefing documents for our spokespeople.
• Develop excellent rapport with colleagues within different businesses, as well as with other functions such as marketing, legal, and compliance.
• Comfortably handle regular media enquiries in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
• Support internal communications as needed, including with select executive communications.
Qualifications
• 8-12 years' experience in corporate communications within publicly traded companies, retail or media/entertainment industry, and/or agency.
• Demonstrated understanding of the financial and corporate communications and capital markets.
• Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional media relations capabilities and the ability to translate complex topics to simple, compelling narratives and serve as a spokesperson.
• Track record of developing strategic, impactful communications plans across earned, owned, and paid that align with business priorities.
• Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
• Proven ability in working across different regions and times zones to drive global communications strategies and activations.
• Strong project and team management skills and attention to detail.
Pay Range: $140 - 175k USD.
