We are looking for visually creative candidate with expertise in camera work and lighting equipment. If you're into the fast-paced, team sport known as ''film production,'' then make sure to keep reading.
The Cinematographer is responsible for ordering and testing camera and lighting equipment, supervising a camera and lighting crew and editing a film's visual elements in post production, among other duties. This is not a desk job! Well, maybe some of the time... but only a small amount. Instead, the majority of the time you will be responsible for sharing your experiences and skills as a cinematographer with a films team that travels the world, filming-high profile clients.
Cinematographers need to work alongside a Film & Art Director and help determine narrative elements through visual style. This individual must also be able to manage freelance crew members and coordinate with producers and/or product owners.
A successful candidate would be flexible, open-minded, patient, knowledgable, and eager to push themselves and the team forward.
Responsibilities
-Developing a film's/video's visual style.
-Determining lighting requirements on set.
-Deciding on the best camera angles and frames for scenes.
-Ordering and testing lighting and camera equipment.
-Supervising a camera crew and directing camera movement.
-Selecting the appropriate digital format.
-Controlling natural or artificial lighting conditions.
-Liaising with electricians to ensure adequate electrical supply.
-Determining elements such as aperture, filters, shutter angles, focus, depth of field and camera distance.
-Editing visual elements in post-production.
-Problem solve and offer creative solutions during production/principal photography.
Requirements
-A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience. In addition, a degree in Film, Art or Photography is preferred.
-A reel of visual work.
-Experience using a light meter is a plus.
-Knowledge of & experience using HD to 4K digital format cameras.
-Understanding of different focal lenses and lens speeds.
-A strong technical fluency in camera and lighting language is a plus.
-Creative visual thinking.
-Excellent written and verbal communication.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills.
-Attention to detail.
-Good organizational skills.
-Good technical camera operating skills.
-Basic experience in editing with Adobe CC (Premiere, After Effects).
-Basic knowledge in storytelling and understanding of the different stages of the film production process.
-Work well under deadline-oriented atmosphere.
-Demonstrate ability to learn quickly and excited to expand his/her skills.
-Ability to take constructive feedback and incorporate suggestions into daily work.
-Ability to troubleshoot, manage and maintain work processes and procedures.
-Ability to work on multiple projects - Highly organised and able to work both independently and collaborate with a team.
-Strong command of the English language and an effective collaborator.
-Able to work in a multicultural environment and work full-time at our Kuala Lumpur office.
-Basic experience with social media video content a plus
-Can travel to different locations for up to a month (at a time).
