This is a Full Time Job
The Lead - Field position will be responsible for the overall care of Miller Park Grounds and leading of staff, primary focus being to provide continuity and horticultural knowledge to the Grounds Department, allowing managers to complete and fulfill their job responsibilities. This position will assist in Arizona Field Operations as well.

In Season Duties and Responsibilities
• Comprehends instruction from the Grounds management team on a daily basis, performing turf maintenance tasks; utilizing proper techniques to mow, replace sod, redefine edges, accurately apply fertilizers and cultivate the turf, while leading part-time staff on all turf maintenance responsibilities to ensure the MLB quality field conditions
• Implements proper clay maintenance procedures and is aware of moisture levels and needs throughout the day on all clay surfaces including the mound, home plate, infield skin, and bullpens
• Communicates and instructs part-time staff in the proper batting practice set-up, while transitioning to and from team workouts
• Leads part-time staff by exhibiting safe and correct set-up/tear down of Stadium Grow Lights
• Understands and operates all equipment in a safe manner including but not limited to skid steer, forklift, tractors, mowers, edger, painters, utility carts, and infield groomers
• Helps maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment that includes equipment upkeep and proper organization of our shop/work area
Off Season Duties and Responsibilities
• Executes snow removal procedures that include plowing, sweeping, shoveling and the application of salt with a great level of detail, while being able to adequately anticipate inclement winter weather conditions
• Perform small engine maintenance, and shop equipment repair
• Accurately record inventory of all tools, shop supplies, fertilizers, irrigation supplies and uniforms
• Assists with Arizona Field Operations, January – March
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Wisconsin Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain within 4 months of hiring
• Full-time availability to work any scheduled Grounds shifts 11 months a year
• Ability to work in Arizona during the months of January, February and March
• Must have a valid driver's license
Education
and/or Experience
Preferred candidates would possess an Associates or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Turf Management, soils, horticulture, or related college program; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years major/minor league or collegiate baseball experience desired.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Hours
Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours may be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
