Do not apply if you are currently still an intern or currently still in college pursuing a degree about to graduate or had less than 1 year of agency experience. This position is for individuals who been in the industry receiving post-grad full-time work for at least 1-3 years at a PR agency, and no less than that, which is required to be considered.
The Position:
The key role and responsibilities of the Public Relations Coordinator is to provide support to his/her assigned team and division. This will include, but is not limited to, developing news attachments and reactive PR opportunities, drafting press releases and creation of press materials, multi-tiered media relations and ownership of media features/event/award submissions, as well as general client and company support. In addition to being a team player, the PR Coordinator will take lead on certain tasks and help manage some campaigns.
Reporting directly to the Sr. PR Manager, the Coordinator may also be assigned to tasks by other members of the team or MPR's Director and CEO. They will also play an integral role in overseeing and training interns within their designated team and assigning them tasks that assist the team. As with all employees of MPR, associates must follow the company policies described in the Company Handbook, attend all necessary internal meetings, and always conduct themselves in a professional manner while working to instill a positive work environment at the agency.
A successful PR Coordinator will show proficiency in completing the following activities:
Company & Team Responsibilities:
-Participate in brainstorming, staff meetings, and select client calls
-Meet company, team and client deadlines in a timely manner
-Effectively prioritize and multi-task across company and client duties assigned
-Answer in-bound inquiries in a professional and timely manner
-Proactive role in creating presentations for new business meetings
-Manage and train company interns successfully per internship program
-Contribute ideas and press coverage to the company blog and social media
-Execute additional tasks assigned by your supervisor or senior member as needed
-Active member of the team, jumping in to take on multiple things at once
-Promote positive company culture among your peers and be a team player
Client Responsibilities:
-Develop a solid understanding of the competitor landscape and relevant industries
-Respond to client, team, and supervisor inquiries in a professional timely manner
-Develop news attachment and reactive PR opportunities based on industry trends
-Draft client status reports, take notes and provide action points for Supervisor to share
-Draft pitches, press releases, company announcements and talking points
-Creation of client press materials, fact sheets and messaging
-Approve media lists and databases for PR campaign approval, ensure they are updated
-Grow and maintain relationships with industry press, national and regional outlets, as well as other key media
-Ownership of media features, events/conferences lists, and award submissions as required
-Support in event planning and onsite media relations
-Help drafts of ROI analysis, quarterly and coverage reports for the client
-Execute additional tasks assigned by your supervisor or senior member as needed
-Professionally communicate with clients on a daily/weekly basis
Qualifications:
-Outstanding interpersonal skills - both written and verbal, along with unfailing attention to details
-1-3 years experience of full-time work at a PR agency
-Self-motivated but also inspired by teamwork
-Solid media contacts and track record securing relevant press coverage
-Problem solver
-Must be proficient with CISION / MuckRack and other software such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Dropbox, WhatsApp, WeChat, Slack, Telegram, KakaoTalk, IMDb, etc.
-Familiarity with social media trends and platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok, Triller, Twitch, YouTube and more
-Knowledge in Asia pop music scene such as K-Pop per our diverse global roster of clientele - preferably know the ins and outs of this overseas industry
-Optimistic and positive approach, even in trickier situations, can see positive outcomes or paths
-Creative thinker and enjoys ideation or creatively finding ways to accomplish goals
-Writing samples and references will be verified
About You:
PR Agency experience is a must! Ideal candidate has growing professional relationships in the media space. Ideal candidate is also familiar with client strategy, planning, execution, reporting and relations.
This position should motivate you to be RESULTS-DRIVEN in garnering placements and organized to the point where you manage many moving parts simultaneously and effectively. Your media and editor connections should be recognizable on outreach and reliable. The candidate should also have connections with known influencers and knowledge in this digital landscape as well.
Day to Day:
8-hour shifts
Monday through Friday with some weekday nights and weekends based on client needs
Los Angeles based
Working from home due to COVID precautions
Virtual meetings
