Position Summary

As a Minor League Pitching Coach, you will be responsible for the development and performance of pitchers at one of the Marlins' minor league affiliates. This role involves implementing organizational pitching philosophies, delivering daily instruction, and collaborating across departments to optimize athlete development. Curiosity, communication skills, and commitment to individual player growth are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions
• Execute individualized pitching plans in alignment with organizational philosophy.
• Provide on-field instruction and feedback to pitchers during bullpens, games, and training sessions.
• Collaborate with analysts, coordinators, and performance staff to support each player's development.
• Prepare daily reports and development summaries to track player progress and communicate with front office personnel.
• Utilize modern technology (e.g., TrackMan, Hawk-Eye, Rapsodo, Edgertronic) to monitor performance and drive development.
• Contribute to organization-wide pitching strategy, philosophy, and development plans in coordination with the Director of Pitching.
• Ensure consistent teaching language and training processes across affiliates.
• Assist in planning and executing pre-game preparation, in-game strategy, and postgame reviews.

Skills Requirements

Technical, Hard, and Soft Skills
• Deep understanding of modern pitching mechanics, approach, and pitch recognition strategies.
• Experience using baseball technology such as Trackman, Hawk-Eye, KinaTrax, Rapsodo and video analysis software (e.g., BATS, Edgertronic).
• Ability to interpret data and integrate it into coaching strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and organizational levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt coaching methods to different learning styles and personalities.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with other departments, including analytics, strength & conditioning, baseball solutions and medical staff.
• Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a player-first, developmental setting.

Education & Experience Guidelines
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Sports Science, Kinesiology, Coaching, or equivalent) preferred.
• Prior coaching experience at the professional, collegiate, or high-level amateur level preferred but not required.
• Former playing experience at the collegiate or professional level is a plus but not required.
• Experience using data and technology to support pitcher development is strongly preferred.

Work Environment
• Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, during the baseball season.
• Ability to life up to 50 pounds regularly (e.g., equipment, training aids).
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the season, including off-season trips to support player development and performance.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
