The Miami Marlins MiLB Dietitian will assist the MiLB Nutrition Director in optimizing nutrition support for our athletes through our core values of innovation, thinking 3 years ahead, and being a good teammate. This role will place a large emphasis on nutrition education through multiple platforms and methods including presentations, digital communication, one-on-one consultations, and created documents. In addition to nutrition education, this role will help with affiliate catering, perform body composition testing as needed, provide medical nutrition therapy, practice and competition fueling, and ensuring department and organizational standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
February through October (In-Season):
• Collaborate with Leadership: Work with the Director of Nutrition, front office, R&D, and Director of Player Development to establish the vision and direction for the nutrition program.
• Nutrition Plans & Development: Design and implement personalized nutrition plans tailored to player development goals and performance requirements. Develop meal plan templates for spring training and instructional programs.
• Nutrition, Supplement & Hydration Tools: Utilize advanced nutritional tools and data, including biometrics and performance tracking, to optimize nutrition strategies. Educate athletes on supplementation and oversee the implementation of supplement protocols.
• Staff Recruitment & Development: Assist in recruiting and mentoring junior nutritionists, ensuring alignment with organizational nutrition practices.
• Nutrition Education: Provide daily education to athletes on fueling, recovery, and hydration through multiple platforms, including presentations, one-on-one consultations, and digital communication.
• Team Support & Integration: Attend team activities, including training sessions, conditioning programs, and meals, to ensure seamless nutritional support.
• Affiliate Catering Support: Assist clubhouse personnel in catering pre- and post-game meals while ensuring food safety and sanitation procedures are met.
November through January (Off-Season):
• Off-Season Nutrition Plans: Create and oversee individualized off-season nutrition programs focused on maintenance, recovery, and preparation for the upcoming season.
• Monitor Player Progress: Track and adjust players' off-season nutrition plans based on progress and performance feedback.
• Collaboration & Communication: Maintain regular communication with players, coaches, and medical staff to ensure execution of nutrition goals.
• Off-Season Camp Participation: Support the organization's off-season instructional camps to continue player development and professional growth.
• Expense & Budget Management: Assist the MiLB Nutrition Coordinator in tracking expenses and managing meal budgets.
• Food Service Coordination: Communicate expectations regarding meal quantity and quality to food service providers.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Registered Dietitian (RD) Required (RD-Eligible may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
• Experience: Minimum of one year within a professional, private, or collegiate sports nutrition program.
• Specialized Certification: Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred.
• Language Skills: Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent time management, record-keeping, and organizational abilities.
• Travel & Relocation: Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. This position is based in Jupiter, FL.
• Flexibility: Ability to work long, non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
