Description of the Position: The Data Platform Developer is responsible for the execution of hands on development of the Data Platform environment, development of ETL processes, performance administration and dimensional design of the database schemas. The ideal candidate will work closely with the data architect, data analysts and data scientists. The Data Platform Developer is tasked with overseeing the full life-cycle of back-end development of the business's data warehouse. The position requires assessment and leveraging of current ETL, Big Data Cloud Solutions and Data warehouse tools.
Essential Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required with emphasis in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience. Computer Science preferred.
Work Experience: 2 years of business experience preferred; ideal candidate will have previous experience in SQL and ETL development.
Skills
Experience: 3 year of hands-on database development experience with Microsoft SQL Server. 3 years advanced SQL skills, including joins, functions, indexes, and views, understanding the best practices. 2 experience in Data Warehouse design, Data Modeling and Computer programming. 1 year of hands on development experience using SSIS or appropriate tools for ETL operations from multiple sources. Experience working with programming design and coding languages like C#, SQL, PowerShell, Python. Knowledge of Cloud Services is a plus, Azure preferred. A reliable and highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently or as a part of a collaborative team. Proven ability to develop ER diagrams, identify primary and foreign keys, entities, attributes, and relationships. Ability to create normalized/de-normalized database schemas. Knowledge of database design principles, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels. Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and/or workarounds. Ability to organize technical work and demonstrate excellent planning and problem-solving skills. Available to work nights and weekends as necessary. Ability to learn, unlearn, re-learn emerging technologies, and quickly adapt and thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
