Metro PR, an entertainment-focused communications firm, is hiring a Publicist who will play a critical role in supporting various client accounts, with a focus on podcasts and books. The Publicist is responsible for executing client campaigns and communication strategies alongside account teams. This position involves cultivating media relationships, conducting client relations, and pitching and securing strategic media coverage for clients. This position requires excellent organizational skills, problem solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, foresight and the ability to multitask and navigate through a fast-paced environment. The below is intended to outline the core responsibilities of this position, however additional duties and learning opportunities will occasionally be assigned.
Candidates for this role should have a genuine interest in listening to podcasts across all genres and a general knowledge of entertainment. This role will support a variety of clients across podcasts and books with a focus on pitching daily/weekly content, booking press tours/interview opportunities for podcast hosts, authors, etc.

• Ability to multitask effectively, including managing knowledge of multiple accounts and navigating through various channels of communication
• Shows initiative by consistently moving through key responsibilities without being prompted; works on key responsibilities autonomously
• Ability to delegate tasks and manage position-appropriate projects through completion
• Consistently showcases creative and strategic thinking
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance on the work of more junior employees, acting as the initial reviewer of media lists, coverage trackers, press reports, etc.
• Draft press releases, pitches, biographies, media materials and other client & company-related documents with oversight and guidance from account lead
• Implement higher-level strategy in media list building, including creating curated lists when targeting a specific narrative
• Conduct heavy media outreach with minimal supervision, communicating details and assets in a strategic way that secures coverage; proactively communicate to team leaders when hitting roadblocks and needing to pivot/adjust strategy
• Develop press relationships - continue to make efforts to strengthen existing and grow new press contacts
• Participate in client communications, regularly scheduled client calls and meetings, and begin to troubleshoot client issues
• Cover clients in the field (photo shoots, speaking opps, live events, red carpet events, in-person interviews, TV bookings, etc.) and troubleshoot situations that arise on-site
• Support the execution of in-scope client events, including on-site management of production elements (case-by-case), partners, press and guests
• Assist with account-related administrative duties when needed
• Support new business outreach through building case studies under supervision of leadership
The compensation for this role ranges between 65k - 80k depending on skills and experience. This position is hybrid. Candidates will have the flexibility to work from home on most days, but candidates should reside in the Los Angeles area to accommodate regular in-person obligations such as company-wide workdays, training and client events. Typical working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, however, flexibility is required, and additional hours, including nights and weekends, may be necessary based on business needs.
