Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a Principal, International Movies Insights leader to drive our global theatrical strategy through data-driven consumer research and insights. This senior role will develop and own an international movies research program that shapes decisions across our global film portfolio, working closely with creative teams, executives, and worldwide stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of entertainment industry research experience and deep expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies across multiple markets. This position offers the unique opportunity to build and scale new research frameworks that will directly impact major film investments, creative development, and marketing strategies for some of entertainment's biggest franchises and IP.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead global theatrical consumer insights initiatives, including on-location research, focus groups, and research screenings across international markets
• Design and execute film testing methodologies to evaluate audience reactions throughout the production lifecycle - from concepts to final cuts - providing actionable insights to creative teams and executives
• Oversee testing of marketing materials and campaign effectiveness across multiple territories, ensuring creative strategies align with local audience preferences and market dynamics
• Conduct comprehensive franchise brand studies to assess brand health, audience engagement, and growth opportunities across global markets
• Develop and implement advanced analytics frameworks utilizing emerging research tools, including AI and machine learning, to extract meaningful insights
• Drive vendor selection, RFP processes, and negotiate global research partnerships across multiple markets
• Collaborate with senior executives and worldwide Consumer Insights counterparts to integrate research findings into high-level decision-making processes
• Create and deliver compelling presentations and reports for C-level executives and key stakeholders
• Foster strong relationships with regional teams to ensure cohesive global research strategies
• Stay current with emerging research methodologies and entertainment industry trends to maintain best-in-class insights practices
Qualifications
• 10 years of professional non-internship marketing experience
• Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
• Experience communicating results to senior leadership
• Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs
• Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
• Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
• Bachelor's degree
