Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst who will be responsible for providing functional, technical, and analytical expertise for building and supporting the BI & Analytics products at MGM. We are looking for someone with solid techno-functional skills and a good understanding of studio business. The candidate will support the new product development as well as the day-to-day maintenance of various studio technology products. The candidate must possess strong communication and analytical skills to effectively work with the business users to determine business requirements and translate them into functional requirements. The candidate must excel in a team environment and have the ability to independently complete individual tasks in a dynamic environment to achieve departmental and company goals.
Responsibilities:
• Work as a strategic partner of the business
• Be the liaison between business and technology
• Keep alignment with business groups on strategic vision and business priorities
• Understand technology capabilities required to support business needs
• Product development, business process and requirements
• Translate business needs into requirements and work with development team through the entire project lifecycle (acting as a Product Owner / Business Analyst)
• Perform data exploration, data visualization, and data analytics to better understand multidimensional first party and third-party data
• Work with the business to define analytics requirements, and provide insight on various metrics to support studio operations
• Launch new products and features, test product functions and performance, and iterate quickly. Oversee product development and release lifecycle. Ensure on time delivery of new product and/or features
• Lead business meetings/interviews to understand business process, issues and requirements
• Create user stories, process modeling, data flow diagrams, reporting and dashboard requirements
• Be a thought leader. Proactively propose creative ideas to apply analytics on business problems. Drive innovations and efficiency by implementing analytics solutions
• Work closely with architect, UX and developers to translate business requirements into technology design and solution
• Participate in sprint planning and other project activities required by Agile software development methodology
• Define business rules, screen mockup and system functionality
• Lead user acceptance testing of applications to ensure the quality of the delivered requirements and overall health of the system
• Create user manuals and/or training documents. Conduct user trainings and drive smooth and efficient implementation of changes
• Production Support
• Support business users on system configuration, admin and other business activities
• Identify system issues. Trouble shoot and analyze potential solutions including workaround
• Work with business users to document, manage and prioritize bug fixings and enhancements
• Work with architect and developers to test and release new system functions
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as business analyst and/or system analyst with end-to-end system implementation experience
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in working with requirements on BI / Data / Analytical projects
• Experience working with data visualization tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, or equivalent
• Strong ability to translate business needs into data requirements including proficiency in validating and visualizing data requirements to stakeholders
• Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and executive management as required
• Understanding of consumer-facing ad-supported VOD (AVOD), pay video-on-demand (PVOD) and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform/streaming service and domain data
• Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making
• Strong understanding in SDLC (software development life cycle) and/or Agile methodology required
• Experience in creating, maintaining and supporting all application development artifacts including user stories, process flows, screen mockups, data diagrams, business rule definitions, design documents, report requirements and dashboard requirements
• Support the delivery of reports and dashboards for executive management
• Knowledge of the data and analytics landscape and recent trends
• Experience with Studio process and/or technology solutions such as title/catalog management, contract and deal management, avails, media asset management and OTT platforms preferred
• Proficient with Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence
• Strong analytical and system functional skills, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of seeing tasks through to successful completion.
• Highly responsive with strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
• Comfort working in a technical environment and able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and juggle multiple deadlines and projects while keeping peers, partners and supervisor abreast of activities
• Self-motivated, accountable, highly organized and have the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent preferred
• Experience working in the entertainment industry preferred
• Consulting Experience preferred
• Strong Knowledge of SQL preferred
