Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking a Hyperion Planning and Essbase Developer. The candidate will be responsible for providing functional, technical, and analytical expertise for supporting and enhancing the Oracle Hyperion product suite at MGM. We are looking for an experienced Hyperion Planning and Essbase developer with solid technical skills and a good understanding of finance, budgeting and forecasting principles. The candidate will support the day-to-day maintenance and configuration of the Oracle/Hyperion Planning Suite of products. The candidate must possess strong communication and analytical skills to effectively work with the business users to determine requirements and translate them into technical solutions. You must excel in a team environment and must have the ability to independently complete individual tasks in a dynamic environment to achieve departmental and company goals.
Responsibilities:
• Analysis and Design
• Work with the business community to define business requirements and/or issues
• Clearly document requirements for business user approval for the work
• Write technical specifications for application components
• Prepare data flow diagramming and/or process modeling
• Development and Testing
• Create and maintain, and troubleshoot Essbase cube configuration and outline dimensions and members
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot business rules and calculation scripts (Max/MDX)
• Identify and document user acceptance test scenarios
• Perform Unit Testing and debugging of applications to ensure the quality of the delivered requirements and overall health of the system.
• Perform application patches and updates
• Production Support
• Conduct functional analysis for production support activities
• Identify problems and analyze potential solutions including workarounds
• Work with vendor support partners on elevated system issues
• Address business user requests to resolve issues with Essbase applications
• Assist the business with training and prepare training documentation
• Work with other technology departments on integrated system support
• Perform system verification tasks during maintenance periods
• Administrative
• Participate in team meetings and status reporting
• Clearly communicate plans, status and issues to management on a regular basis
• Adhere to department standards, policies, procedures and industry leading practices
Requirements:
• Strong proficiency of Oracle/Hyperion Planning (Calculation Manager, Web forms, integration, performance tuning)
• Strong proficiency of Oracle/Hyperion Essbase (ASO, BSO, BSO Hybrid, Calculation Scripts, Load Rules, MaxL and MDX)
• Experience with FDMEE setup and troubleshooting. Understanding of data integration/interfacing from other enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) a must
• Experience working with SQL, Visual Basic, Jython, Powershell
• Experience in creating, maintaining and supporting all application artifacts including, outlines, calculation scripts, report scripts, rules files for dimension building and data loading
• Experience in Security Setup and Management: User groups, User roles, assigning server and application access, Calc Script user access, Essbase filters, assignment of application access type
• Understanding of ASO, BSO and BSO Hybrid cube architecture, proficiency in optimizing calculations, cube restructures & defrag procedures for optimal performance
• Proficient with MS Office products, specifically advanced Excel skills using macros and VBA scripts to perform advanced data operations
• Experience with optimizing SmartView queries and submittals
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the business to support their day to day business operations
• Ability to track and complete multiple requests and priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Strong analytical and system design skills, and problem recognition and problems solving skills, with a track record of seeing tasks through to successful completion
• Knowledge of Financial Reporting, Sales and Finance Planning, Amortization, etc. as applicable to the Media and Entertainment/Studios industry
Additional skills preferred:
• Media and Entertainment/Studios industry experience
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or Accounting Information Systems
• Minimum of 7 years hands-on experience with Hyperion Planning and Essbase
• Experience in applying Oracle software patches for system maintenance and/or bug fixes
• Experience providing alternatives based on best practices and application functionality
• Knowledge in SDLC (software development life cycle)
• Strong customer service skills
• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
