Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking an Attorney with at least 2 years of experience in the entertainment industry to join the Legal Department's Library Rights Management Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing rights to MGM's fabled film library and assist in the day-to-day operations of the team. This would include performing research and chain of title reviews for new acquisitions and films in release, as well as television, stage, and new media projects. The Attorney will also provide timely legal advice to MGM's creative and business units, including evaluating potential risks and proposing practical, responsive solutions.
Requirements:
* JD degree from top tier law school
* Admission to California State Bar
*Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the entertainment industry
*Highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who is able to work independently on multiple, high-priority tasks in a fast-paced, corporate environment
*Ability and desire to work within a team environment
*Ability to be collaborative, receptive to constructive feedback, and diplomatic when communicating and interacting with superiors and colleagues
* Superior written and verbal communication skills
* Strong critical thinking skills and a tenacity to problem solve
*Ability to recognize and seek guidance on issues beyond one's knowledge or comfort zone
*Familiarity with a wide range of entertainment agreements, terms of art, and industry customs
*Knowledge of the film, television, and digital production process
*Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. and foreign copyright law
*Familiarity with DGA, SAG, and WGA agreements (including separated rights)
*Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Adobe with the aptitude to quickly master other databases/applications
