OVERVIEW
The video department at Meredith Corporation produces thousands of videos per year. Our content ranges from original long form pieces to high-quality branded content for Meredith's advertisers, as well as editorial content for Meredith brands including: People, Travel and Leisure, InStyle, Shape, Food and Wine, Parents and Martha Stewart Living.
Meredith Studios New York is seeking an Post Production Manager to manage the day-to-day scheduling of a high volume of content, across all our brands. This position will report to a Post-Production Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of the role will include:
• Building out an edit schedule and determining the scope of work at the acquisition stage. Booking time out with our in-house staff of editors, AEs, and graphics artists, or sourcing out and scheduling freelancers to backfill on edit requests as needed
• Maintaining and tracking the schedule closely, ensuring projects stay on-track in accordance to the schedule without delays, and communicating potential overages to key stakeholders ahead of time
• Preparing all start-up materials for Editors/Assistant Editors, and others assigned to the project
• Coordinating between editors and out-of-house colorists and audio mixers to facilitate project round-tripping
• Working with production to ascertain information about schedule changes (e.g., determining when edit days are going to push, following up with producers if feedback is delayed), determining their impact on our internal edit schedule as a whole and assessing workarounds/solutions for those changes.
• Closely monitoring logged hours for projects and track their correlation with established project budgets
• Collaborating with requestors (producers) and operational personnel (editors, assistant editors, publishing team) to ensure complete and timely delivery of all necessary content; and/or managing overall workload and/or expectations as needed
• Managing day-to-day communication with producers & key edit stakeholders
GUIDELINES
General expectations for our ideal candidate would reflect someone who is/has:
• 3+ years of relevant experience in a high-volume production company, network, or similar environment
• Proactive, solution-oriented and maintain a bias for action.
• Efficient - an instinct towards eliminating workflow redundancies whenever possible
• Strong organizational skills, and can self-manage their own deadlines and workload
• Resourceful - coming prepared with thorough information, having exhausted all available avenues of information, when faced with a challenge
• Inventive, and curious - someone who is interested and invested in information discovery and is team-oriented
• Strong knowledge of post-production and administrative software used by the company.
• An affinity for process and workflows; but can also understand the importance of improvisation when needed
• An ability to anticipate client needs before they are explicitly communicated
