Position Purpose
The Video Archivist is primarily focused on organizing, encoding, and archiving video content for use in Grizzlies' television production, Grizzlies and Hustle event presentation, Grizzlies, Grind City Media, Hustle, Grizz Gaming digital / online / social properties. While the main direction of this position is media management, the person who is chosen for this role will also be an integral part of all facets of video production for the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Logging video content from ENG, studio and field production, and managing our game melt and event archives.
* Managing department's CatDV and tape library systems.
* Maintain basic organization of libraries and facilities.
* Help manage, maintain, and advise on facility and technical needs.
* Assist in preparations for edit sessions as needed.
* Help facilitate footage requests to and from NBA and other vendors / partners and outside sources.
* Assist supervisor and department producers in sourcing of game footage and other elements for live and post production.
* Assist supervisor and department producers with research and footage/element acquisition as assigned.
* Serve as a primary and secondary grip, audio person, camera assist for ENG and production shoots as assigned-this includes but is not limited to assisting in pre-production research and acquisition.
* Work with supervisor in maintaining and expanding existing footage archival through CatDv.
* Help with the assistance of set up and tear down on production shoots.
* Help maintain and understand production deadlines / calendars and goals.
* Follow, understand, advise, and stay abreast of team and league story lines, including complete and thorough knowledge of previous Grizzlies' games in assisting supervisor and department producers with feature and programming production.
* Other related duties as required.
Required Skills
, Experience & Abilities
* Post-secondary training in the area of video production.
* Proficiency in CatDV or other equivalent media asset management software.
* An understanding of LTO storage.
* Exceptional attention to detail in logging.
* 2-4 years' experience in television news, sports department, or post production environment.
* Ability to effectively manage time and remain highly organized while working on multiple projects with aggressive deadlines.
* Strong computer skills with a proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and online resources.
* Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.
* High level knowledge of and passion for NBA basketball.
* Knowledge of and passion for video production.
* Willingness to work all phases of video production including electronic field production (EFP).
* Valid U.S. Driver's license, and reliable means of transportation.
* Ability to lift/carry 40-50lbs.
* Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Preferred
* Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite or comparable non-linear editing software.
* Experience working EFP as grip, audio operator, camera assist, or production assistant.
* Resilient and able to adapt to challenges associated with changes in broadcast technology.
* Familiarity with router systems and tape room environments.
* Video editing experience.
* Ability to operate a professional video camera.
