Full Time Job
At MEPR, we require a junior publicist to be at the account coordinator (AC) level. This person should be an effective multi-tasker, and have a general understanding of the media landscape. A junior publicist should display tenacity for professional development, a strong desire to get the job done right and the ability to provide creative and strategic insights that enhance team performance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to industry research, monitoring and reporting, media contact database development and list building, heavy media relations and pitching to get a feel for what PR executives and publicists do. If you are not a good writer, this will not be a good job for you, as this job requires a lot of email writing and follow ups. Most media relationship building depends on great research, great writing and great follow up skills. If this doesn't sound comfortable, this is likely not the job for you. However, if it is, this is a great chance to build strong media relationships and assist the team in closing great media hits.
Core Duties:
Strong writing skills (will ask for writing sample)
Pitch media via email and phone - heavily
Manage all aspects of media coverage for the team and clients, including monitoring, clipping and reporting
Build and maintain media lists
Research for various campaigns
Has a critical mind and enjoys taking deep dives, doing research and getting a full understanding of something
Takes direction well
Develop general PR materials including fact sheets, bios, abstracts, etc.
Organize client documents and folders
Organize client meetings and take notes on behalf of the team
Red carpet event support as needed
Takes great notes for memo writing, status reports and more
Setting up virtual meetings via zoom and keeping a busy calendar organized
Creativity is a must
PR major or minor preferred
BILINGUAL a plus.
Required Skills:
A Bachelors Degree in Journalism and/or a related field (e.g. English, Public Relations, or Communications) and passion for PR and Social Media
Previous PR internship or relevant communications experience is preferred
VERY Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Knowledge using Google Teams software
Knowledge using CANVA ( to help with social media postings)
Knowledge using Slack, Zoom, and or other tech apps for messaging and tasks
A POSITIVE ATTITUDE as we need a proactive self-starter eager to learn and grow as part of a team with a dedication to quality control
A strong understanding of Web and social media tools
The ability to leverage tools such as search, Muck Rack, Propel, and others, to work efficiently and produce quality deliverables
Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word and Power Point
This is a position that is a strong entry point for someone looking for a full time job on the public relations side of the Entertainment Industry.
