Mar Vista Entertainment is a fast-growing, full-service independent entertainment studio with a mission to produce, acquire, and distribute premium film and television programming worldwide. Reporting to the SVP, Physical Production, the Director, Physical Production will work with the department in all aspects of physical production and post production across our broad spectrum of original productions and acquisitions. This individual will help manage and keep the team apprised of multiple projects requiring daily contact with internal and external stakeholders including producing partners, vendors and other entities outside of the company.
Essential Functions
Helps maintain studio oversight on a slate of 40+ projects per year (movies and series).
Engages creative executives and external producers on preliminary breakdowns, budgets, and schedules.
Partners closely with the Production Accountant across a range of budget levels to review budgets and cashflows, as well as, monitor cost reports, hot costs, residuals, and security deposits.
Tracks the pipeline status for each project for both Production and Post Production.
Collaborates with Production Finance teams to organize and run weekly Post-Mortem meetings to review and reconcile delivered projects.
Liaises with Business Affairs to ensure efficient sharing of information and deal tracking.
Identifies vendors and deals to be implemented across our large volume of productions.
Assesses production locations and tax incentive opportunities.
Additional duties, as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in physical production (TV, TV Episodic, Feature Film).
Knowledge of union and guilds: IA, DGA, WGA Teamsters and SAG (Modified Low Budget through Basic agreement).
Knowledge of and experience with Canadian production and tax incentives, preferred.
Outgoing, friendly demeanor with strong communications skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and detail-oriented to manage many projects simultaneously.
Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office, MS Outlook, Movie Magic Budgeting & Scheduling. A knowledge of Final Draft, preferred.
Knowledge of Post Production flow, preferred.
