This is an IATSE 839 position covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
The Previs Artist will design shots and sequences to be included in the animatic and as reference for the animation vendor on one of our CG animated series. They will work under the creative direction of the Previs Supervisor to define shot composition, staging, lighting and camera language including character blocking, lens choice and framing.
Responsibilities:
• Setting the initial composition, staging and cameras for each shot
• Understanding of physical lenses and camera work
• Working knowledge of staging and composition
• Experience with lighting & rigging
• Experience with rough modeling preferred
• Character positioning
• Outstanding artistic skills in cinematography and film language, including a strong sense of composition, staging, camera movement, shot flow, character animation and posing
• Ability to self-manage deadlines, working efficiently in a fast-paced environment prioritize between both pre-production for storyboards and shipment to the overseas studio
• Collaborate with Production team and be receptive to feedback to improve artistic work
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree preferred
• Knowledge of Autodesk Maya required
• Experience in animating hard and soft surfaces preferred
• Previous production experience or outstanding artistic skills/abilities in CGI
• Experience with rough modeling preferred
• Ability to interpret and receive creative direction
• Adaptable to creative change throughout the project
