Job Summary:
Marvel is looking for a talented Data Science & Engineering professional to join our Business Intelligence team. This role will partner with key stakeholders across the organization to develop and optimize Marvel's data infrastructure, reporting, analytics, hypothesis testing and experimental design capabilities to inform and enhance the monetization of IP assets across a variety of engagement channels including Subscription, Mobile, Web, Social, Gaming and others.
Responsibilities:
• Blend data together leveraging tools (Stitch, Fivetran, AWS Glue) and/or languages (Python, SQL, R) from a variety of disparate data sources (first party .csv files, SQL variants, third party APIs, ODBC/JBDC etc.) into efficient and normalized data structures.
• Lead consumer profiling efforts including the integration of key technologies (i.e. DMP and/or CDP), and the application of segmentation techniques to identify and value clusters/cohorts.
• Develop and maintain a variety of subscription, content, clickstream, engagement and marketing metrics by leveraging statistics, analytics and data science to optimize multi-channel acquisition, conversion and retention efforts in addition to other strategic KPIs.
• Apply statistical and data modelling techniques to lead the design, analysis, and optimization of experiments to determine KPI weighting and inform predictive algorithms (e.g. churn).
• Identify gaps in the organization's current data models and pipelines that are impacting reporting granularity and analytical flexibility.
• Build suite of data models, tools, and dashboards to serve insights regarding Marvel's fans and customers to key stakeholders (Corporate, New Media, Publishing, Editorial, Marketing etc.)
• Leverage AI along with supervised and/or unsupervised ML models to innovate and automate data operations in ways that enhance Marvel's understanding of its consumers and content.
• Iteratively develop, maintain and operationalize Marvel's Content Metadata Taxonomy for applications including content personalization and recommendation (Adobe Target).
Basic Qualifications:
• Expert level proficiency coding in at least one of Python, SQL variants, and/or R, ability to process both structured and unstructured data sets.
• Strong statistics background with experience leveraging a variety of techniques (Decision Trees, Classification, Dimension Reduction, Resampling, Supervised/Unsupervised Learning etc.) to analyze data, inform future testing/experiments and generate actionable insights.
• Experience leveraging relational databases, manipulating data structures and analyzing complex data sets to drive reporting and KPI definition.
• Hands on experience building and optimizing data pipelines, developing data models and designing schemas. Familiarity with Hive/Hadoop, Spark, Kafka.
• Comfortable working with a variety of tech stacks (Adobe, AWS, GCP) and able to pick up new software and toolsets quickly.
• Experience liaising and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and globally distributed work environment.
• Exceptional communicator with proven ability to effectively articulate data assumptions, limitations and interpretations to stakeholders with a wide range of data science backgrounds.
Required Education
• BA or MS degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Econometrics or related field)
