Job Purpose:
The Los Angeles Dodgers are seeking a Developer for the team's Baseball Performance Science (R&D) group. The Developer will work closely with the team's technical leadership and our Performance Science team to design and build the exploratory and analytical systems used by Performance Science. We are looking to find someone who is an expert at translating requirements from diverse sources into design specifications and production code and to bridge from ad hoc analysis to application development.
Job Functions:
• Design, build, and enhance systems and tools for collection and analysis of performance science data
• Design, implement, and test data collection and storage procedures for performance science data
• Translate requirements from performance science and player development into functional design specifications
• Build and test scalable web, native, and mobile applications
• Write scripts and applications to support data collection, automation, and report generation from measurement instruments and cameras
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum two years of software development experience in a web-based development environment
• Experience with both front- and back-end development (full-stack)
• Familiarity with SQL query design and optimization
• Experience handling or analyzing timeseries data
• Experience with Python, Bash, and other scripting languages
• Experience with cloud-based and distributed computing (AWS preferred)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
