This is a Full Time Paid Internship
The Marketing Department of the lauded and long running independent film distributor Magnolia Pictures is seeking an intern (up to 40h/week, Mon-Fri) to help support our team and bolster the brand's presence on social media. Position begins approximately March 10, 2025 and ends approximately September 10, 2025 (subject to mutual agreement).
As a Marketing Intern, you will work under the Director of Marketing and Marketing Manager to support social campaigns for all of Magnolia's upcoming theatrical releases, as well as our deep catalog of over 500 films. By identifying opportunities for activation and engaging directly with our community online, you will play a meaningful role in bolstering our presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, and Letterboxd.
This seasonal paid internship gives qualified candidates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all facets of a fast-paced, cutting-edge marketing department of an established independent film distributor. Please send an email with your resume, cover letter, and portfolio if interested.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other tasks may be assigned)
• Utilize knowledge of the social media and internet landscape to identify emerging trends and ideate weekly engagement opportunities
• Create static assets including banners, thumbnails, invites, endcards, and more as needed
• Monitor mentions, comments, and DMs across platforms, and interact with various accounts and creators while maintaining brand voice
• Conduct research on relevant topics for upcoming titles, such as talent, influencers, key dates, new products or features, and related films
• Maintain calendar of cultural moments and recommend ideas for brand visibility
• Track social metrics and compile reports on a weekly basis
• Provide staffing support at events including premieres, Q&As, and screenings
• Participate in weekly staff calls, filmmaker calls, and publicity calls to become familiar with the full scope of a theatrical marketing and publicity campaign
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• Finger on the pulse of trends across social with a genuine passion for internet culture
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro
• A strong eye for design, with a portfolio of work to demonstrate
• Experience managing social accounts on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Facebook, and/or YouTube
• Strong sense of organization and excellent communication skills
• Based in New York with the ability to work on a hybrid schedule (in office Tuesday and Wednesday)
• Ability to work occasional events on nights and/or weekends
• Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Office Suite
HOURS
Hybrid; 5 days a week for a commitment of 4 months minimum. Required to be in office Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote (subject to change). Hours are 10:30-6:30PM with a half-hour lunch.
Hourly rate: $16.50/hr
