This is a Part Time Job
Magnolia Pictures is seeking a Financial Operations Assistant to join our New York Global Sales team, MAGNIFY. This is a part-time, temporary, hourly position consisting of up to 35 hours per week. Position length is currently unknown. Applicants should be self-motivated and detail-oriented multi-taskers with 2-3 years of professional experience.
Responsibilities:
• Liaise between the global sales team and other departments (e.g., Accounting, Business Affairs) providing sales details, recoupment status, outstanding payments, income projects, etc., and maintain internal accounting and rights databases.
• Collect, analyze, reconcile, and log royalties statements and client payments using Airtable software, Excel, and rights management system.
• Calculate royalties due and ensure accurate, timely payment and compliance with contractual obligations.
• Process accounts receivable and follow up on past due accounts.
• Assist and support the finance team with client budgeting, reporting, and analyzing payments on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Chase relevant internal/external contacts for missing statements and information.
• Oversee right management database performance and evolution to maximize windows and avoid conflicts.
• Liaise with the home entertainment team by verifying and submitting new titles / availabilities and tracking revenue.
• Communicate with accounting team on generating invoices, following up on any past due payments, and monitoring invoice requests for accuracy.
• Ensuring internal payment tracking systems, sales reports, Rightsline records, and shared drive backup are all aligned.
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of professional work experience
• Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
• Experience with financial/accounting systems and tracking
• Familiarity with media rights terminology (Ancillary, Cinematic, Home Video, Linear, VOD)
• Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, communication, and time management with excellent organizational skills
• Reliable and proactive
• High attention to detail
• Humble, diligent, and resourceful
Hourly pay range:
• $20 - $24/hour, depending on experience
