Full Time Job
We are looking for a highly capable payroll specialist to manage our payroll system. In this role, your duties will include ensuring accurate salary payments, updating employee hiring or termination information on the payroll system. To ensure success as a payroll accountant, you should demonstrate knowledge of applicable tax laws and ideally have experience in a similar role. The candidate will be detail-oriented and someone who can accurately and timely process salaries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
• Attending to payroll inquiries from employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with payroll software.
Education and Experience:
• An associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) will be advantageous.
• A minimum of two years' experience as a Payroll Accountant, or in a similar role.
