Technical Assistant (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
Do you have a background in Computer Science and an interest in the exciting world of television production? Are you eager to gain valuable experience as part of a world-class, fast-paced production team? Lucasfilm Animation is looking for a Technical Assistant (TA) to ensure the smooth and streamlined workflow of the 3D Story Department. The TA will play a vital role in helping with scene setup, technical support, asset QC and packaging. The TA will also help with archiving show data as well as learning the production pipeline tools and workflow.
Responsibilities:
Problem Solver, Detail-oriented, and Tech Savvy are keywords for the Technical Assistant (PH). On any given day, you might:
• Read scripts and setup scenes for story artists in the in-house 3D storyboard software.
• QC Assets for use in storyboard software.
• Provide front line support for troubleshooting issues with story department tools.
• Provide Archiving and Restores of show data.
• Debug issues with pipeline tools, work with Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director in development of new tools.
Basic Qualifications:
Here are the skills and experience you need to be successful in this role:
• Experience and/or passion for software and tools that relate to a computer graphics environment
• Expertise in Maya or similar 3D package
• Demonstrated programming skills: Python and MEL
• Proficiency in Linux preferred
• Strong desire to learn the process of an episodic animated production
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong interest in the animation story process
• Ability to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level with colleagues
• Ability to receive feedback and make adjustments
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree and/or equivalent experience.
