Loyola Marymount University's Department of Public Safety has an opening for a full-time Director of Access Control and Security Technology. Reporting to the Vice President of Campus Safety and Security, this position strategically directs the application and use of access control and security technology, including campus intrusion alarms, video surveillance, duress buttons, radio communications system, and emergency callboxes, in a manner that enhances security and safety and minimizes risk.
The Director of Access Control and Security Technology hires, manages, and develops a team of system administrators who support all security technology systems, including access control, video, radios, alarms, and duress buttons for university campuses.
This position establishes access and security policies for the campus, and coordinates communication of those policies campus-wide. Develops, manages, and maintains statistical and annual reports, and utilizes those reports to drive improvements and changes. Partners with Information Technology Services to develop a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all access control and security technology systems and hardware. The Director assesses current security technology, and identifies needed projects to enhance building and campus security. Creates a long-term vision for access control and other security technology systems and processes, and develops long-term and short-term strategies to achieve that vision in support of the goals of the Department of Public Safety. Manages access control systems, and establishes protocol and procedures for granting access to LMU community members.The Director also performs related duties as assigned such as answering emergency calls, assisting faculty, staff and students with access issues.
We seek candidates who typically possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a Higher Education security-related environment. Graduate degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. Possession of a California Driver's License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle safely for extended periods of time is required.
