The School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a full-time regular Academic Affairs Associate- Planning & Administration. Under minimal supervision this position provides specialized support to the Associate Dean of Planning and Administration for SFTV. This position will interact with SFTV staff, faculty and department leaders. The position also performs heavy analytical support for the Associate Dean while exercising initiative, discretion, and judgment.
The Academic Affairs Associate will support the Associate Dean with strategic and business planning activities including research, business case modeling, and summarizing conclusions. Create annual and long range financial projections using enrollment growth projections, expense forecasts, and ''what if'' scenarios. Research, gather, organize, and summarize data for special projects, reports, and/or activities. Work with the Associate Dean on annual budget planning and development for SFTV. Coordinate with the Provost Office Budget Office on budget submissions, deadlines, capital and other requests. The Academic Affairs Associate will process financial transactions as needed for the Associate Dean including P Card, out of pocket reimbursements, travel, and invoices. Track faculty search, recruitment, appointment activity, sabbaticals, grants and fellowships awarded; develop an automated solution. Ensure SFTV is in compliance with LMU's expenditure and other policies. Identify opportunities to eliminate manual and inefficient administrative processes and make recommendations for streamlining and improvement. Assist the Associate Dean with SFTV staff job descriptions. The Academic Affairs Associate will work collaboratively with all SFTV Departments including Academic Affairs, Development, Communications, Production, Alumni Engagement to collect or supply required information as needed, serve on interdepartmental committees or teams, and work with other departments as needed.

We seek candidates who typically possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible job-related experience. Experience in a higher education environment preferred. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to form sound conclusions and make prudent recommendations based on data. Exceptional written communication skills as evidenced by research reports, executive summaries, PowerPoint presentations; ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner. Exceptional oral communication skills. Ability to make presentations to students, staff, Associate Deans and division Directors. Demonstrated ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment to accomplish goals. Must use good judgement to protect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and academic administration. Experience in effectively communicating with external constituents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; proficiency in navigating and researching the Web; proficiency in Excel. Adept and confident learning new software and hardware. Some experience with web design support and coordination. Must be flexible and adapt to change easily; must be able to work independently and as a team member; must have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
