Position Summary: The LA Sparks Youth Basketball program has grown over the years and continues to grow. Through the program we hope to inspire and encourage children to stay active and experience the thrill of basketball and work with the LA Sparks. As Senior Manager, Youth Basketball Programs you will implement, coordinate and evaluate all youth basketball programs and initiatives. As part of your role, you will execute partnership activation strategy and drive revenue generation through camps, clinics, and group ticket sales. As Senior Manager you will be encouraged to collaborate with community and corporate partners to activate targeted strategies for increased youth engagement, and to work closely with multiple internal departments to support brand and platform integration.
Duties and responsibilities
• Lead, develop and implement all aspects of the LA Sparks Youth Basketball Program
• Assist the Senior Vice President in the development and management of the LA Sparks Youth Basketball Programs strategy and business plan
• Work with Senior Vice President in building and meeting department budget
• Develop relationships with youth basketball influencers and leagues to grow youth basketball programming
• Responsible for driving revenue through youth basketball programming
• Identify growth opportunities for LA Sparks' program with youth organizations and city departments locally and regionally
• Handle program budget, event logistics, league sales and camp registration.
• Lead all youth basketball program staffing including hiring and development of supervisors, coaches and interns
• Develop and implement strategic plan to grow the number of camp opportunities and camper registrations
• Maintain the highest standards for safety, camp experience and the quality of coaches and instruction.
• Ensure programs and camps are conducted in compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Develop and run youth basketball ambassador program.
• Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and requirements
• 4 – 5 years of basketball administration, public relations, event management or sales/marketing experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience focused on youth sports and/or sales and marketing
• A passion for youth basketball programs
• Experience running youth sports camps preferred
• High proficiency in a variety of technology, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office and social media platforms
• Customer service and/or sales experience preferred
• Staff/intern supervision experience preferred
• Strong project management, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to learn and should be able to flourish in a fast-growing, dynamic environment
• Ability to build and maintain productive, positive relationships through strong communication and interpersonal skills
Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position will lead all aspects of Intern staff
Work environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Staff are required to work Sparks home games, in addition to external events including but not limited to: charity and networking events. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena which includes bleachers/steps.
