Part Time Unpaid Internship
This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA communications team. Interns will participate in all areas of media relations and the many facets of working for a professional sports team including creating and disseminating team press materials, liaising with sports media, community outreach, player appearances, and external communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attendance at ALL Sparks season home games is required, including WNBA Playoff home games, select community events, and assist with game-day media relations and team operations.
• Mandatory one day in the office as needed to assist with pre-game day operations such as arranging and delivering visiting team packets and setup for press conferences.
• Coordinate and manage media credentialing for Sparks games.
• Maintain and manage a detailed media list: local, national, entertainment, business and sports.
• Manage media clips and generate media value reports.
• Assist with the coordination of media for community events to increase the Sparks exposure in the Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
• Assist with planning, implementation and staffing of Sparks media, special and charitable events and game days, including, but not limited to: press conferences, interviews, market research, event recap
• Assist with the writing of Sparks postgame quotes, notes, media guides and other PR materials.
Qualifications:
• Must provide proof that you are eligible to receive college credit.
• Working to achieve Bachelors or Masters degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Sports Management or related fields.
• Internships with college sports information department a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills; basketball and WNBA knowledge and passion is strongly preferred.
• Quick learner who is able to adapt and excel in various environments.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with HTML, InDesign and Photoshop and social media tools.
• Self-motivated, positive, reliable and high-energy
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment; are detail oriented and extremely organized.
Special Requirements:
• Reliable transportation; use of personal vehicle to and from practice.
• Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays is a priority.
This is an unpaid internship and is for individuals who will receive college credit only

Expected Availability:
Game Days – up to 7 hours
Occasional Office Hours – up to 2 hours a week
Occasional Community and Outreach Hours – 5 to 10 hours a week
Full/Part time: Part time
Base Salary: College Credit only
