DEPARTMENT: Corporate Partnerships
TYPE: Paid Internship, Part-time/Seasonal
DURATION: Entirety of Lakers 2018-19 season, potentially including playoffs
HOURS: Hours will vary depending on schedule. Range of 14-30 hours/week (including office & game days)
Corporate Partnerships department has an opening for an intern for the 2018-19 NBA season. This opportunity is for college students or recent college graduates and is based in the Los Angeles area. The Corporate Partnerships Intern will work alongside the Corporate Partnerships department to assist the sales and service staff with multiple sponsor-related projects, events, activations, and routine game day activities throughout the season. Candidate must be able to work all home games including nights, weekends and holidays, as well as two (2) days in the office per week for the entirety of the season, potentially including playoffs.
RESPONSIBILITIES: OFFICE
• Assisting the sales and service staff with any game day preparation, post-game follow-up tasks, proposal presentations, prospective client research, season recaps, mailings and any other projects and fulfilling them in a timely manner
• Communicating internally with CP staff and all departments within the organization, and externally with sponsors, sweepstakes/promotion winners, vendors, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES: GAME DAY
• Managing departmental correspondence for sponsor parking, signage and photo requests, and responsible for sending these lists to the proper parties for fulfillment
• Facilitating and assisting with all game day tasks, including but not limited to: preparing and ensuring promotion materials, collateral and prizes are in place; assisting with contestant sign-ups, sponsor boothing, receptions & hospitality and post-game Laker Girl/player appearances; and facilitating sponsor promotions and contests
• Monitor and work with production and game operations to ensure that all sponsor signage and promotions are running accurately per the game script
• Assist with coordination and execution at special sponsor events, player appearances and Lakers Youth Foundation fundraisers throughout the season
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
• Open to either college students (Junior, Senior or Graduate students) or recent college graduates. Opportunity to receive academic credit, if desired (students are required to provide documentation of receiving academic credit for the internship experience).
• Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, proactive, resourceful, creative and good with time management
• Technical skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
• Ability to work well independently, under pressure and to solve problems with little supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional in both appearance and attitude, who will be cordial and respectful while being a representative of the organization
• Strong desire to work in the sports industry
• Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the applicant
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift 20 lbs. and ability to be on your feet for 6 hours
• Able to provide your own transportation and have a valid driver's license
