Full Time Job
The Los Angeles Lakers Media Relations department currently has three (3) openings for a part-time seasonal associate in the 2018-19 NBA season.
Summary of associate responsibilities:
• Attend ALL 41 regular season home games, select preseason games in October, and any potential 2019 NBA Playoff games to assist in the coordination of game day duties including, but not limited to: overseeing media will call for credential distribution, assisting with media needs in the press room, distributing stat sheets and final stat books to the media, retrieving and producing post game quote sheets and various other tasks that may arise.
• Work in the office in El Segundo 1-2 days a week (9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.) and potential weekend dates throughout the season, assisting with various administrative duties including the preparation and distribution of daily press clippings, answering phones, and producing and delivering media packets to visiting team hotels.
• Provide content for monthly newsletters by writing stories, conducting player interviews, and authoring player features.
Qualifications
/Skills Desired:
• MUST be a current undergraduate or graduate student
• MUST be able to work all 41 home games and any potential 2019 NBA Playoff games. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please note that we often have games on holidays (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, etc.) and you are expected to work. Keep in mind that interns are expected to arrive at the arena three hours prior to game time for all home games.
• Possess excellent written, oral and grammatical communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience in Adobe InDesign is a plus.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Self-starter with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
