Job Title: Manager, Social Media
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Associate Director, Social & Content
Position Summary: The Manager, Social Media is responsible for ownership of all Lakers social channels, including, but not limited to - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Weibo. This position is part of the Lakers' social and content team and reports to the Associate Director, Social & Content.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
• Full ownership of all Lakers social channels-you'll run point for day-to-day social operations, short and long term-content development, and backend channel management
• Work closely with the Associate Director, Social and Content, on platform and content strategy
• You'll be our quarterback on game nights, responsible for planning and executing on real-time content pre, during, and post-game
• Take full ownership of a multi-brand content calendar, work closely with others in the Social & Content team to assist on other Laker's properties, including but not limited to South Bay Lakers, Lakers Gaming, and Laker Girls
• Create content for the entire calendar year based off of game nights, tentpole events, milestones, and NBA-related dates, working closely with the creative team to produce photography, develop video concepts, graphics (both still and motion), writing copy, handling articles written by our Lakers Reporter, and posting to social platforms
• Maximize any/all media opportunities and access to team assets, events, and activities to develop great content
• Work with the Corporate Sponsorship team on content opportunities for current and potential partners
• Develop and expand social and community guidelines
• Develop and implement social media platform strategies, ensuring all best practices are always met and exceeded
• Stay on top of emerging social media trends and appropriately integrate new opportunities into the Lakers digital presence
• Be an advocate for social media within the organization and proactively educate
• Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising strategy

Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Previous experience:
• A minimum of three (3 ) years working in social
• Experience working in sports, or for a brand that requires availability for an ''always on'' approach
• A portfolio of social media content that demonstrates creativity, storytelling, copywriting, and reaching marketing objectives
• Past experience in an integrated marketing team, and operating in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Technology Capabilities:
• Expert knowledge of all social media platforms
• Adobe Creative Suite
• Drupal (and other content management systems)
• Video editing tools
• Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong writing skills
• Deep knowledge of Lakers franchise, and a strong passion for creative social media
• Appreciation for basketball culture and history
• Ability to delegate tasks, with strong organizational skills
• A desire to experiment and learn
• Is tech savvy-you have the ability to make technology work for you and can adapt to new platforms and services
• A deep understanding of analytics and how they play a role in overall strategy and creative execution
• A deep understanding of platforms, specifically Facebook/Instagram Creator Studio, Twitter Media Studio, and YouTube Studio
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects a plus
Physical Demands: Up to over 14 hours of walking and standing on game days
Location: El Segundo (office M-F), downtown LA (STAPLES Center for all home games), away games, plus other occasional off-site events
Travel: Up to 40% of the time (must attend all home games, away are TBD)
Hours: This position requires constant attention due to the continuous nature of the news cycle. Regular office hours (9am- 5:30pm M-F), plus overtime when necessary. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays to complete deadlines as needed. Social media and sports are always on, so flexibility and availability are key.
