Hey guys!
After the feature started production, we've been in go mode and eating, drinking, sleeping making this movie haha. To date, we have had 14.5 film dates. We were hoping to be wrapped by 15 days, however since the end goal is to sell the film, the quality has to be there, so we have 7.5 more film dates until we wrap. That being said, we need to replenish our crew for the final haul! Without further ado, here's the info:
My name is Myri Houli and I have been a filmmaker since October 2016. I founded and run the Los Angeles Film and Reel Club, a club which has made over 20 films including a web series. The purpose of the club is to help all of its members gain experience, build their reel, and boost their IMDb, so short films are created solely for that in mind. However, this year the club is embarking on its most ambitious project yet. We not only want to do all of those things, we want this feature film to be the launching pad of everyone's career. The goal is to make as much profit as possible as well as win multiple awards at festivals. We are hoping for whatever form of distribution that has no profit ceiling. In order to achieve this lofty goal, we need a power team. So let me tell you about our film and what we're looking for.
Seeking Justice is a mystery/thriller film meant to appeal to every demographic, but with a specific focus on the vein of Zillenials/Gen Z. It is meant to appeal to the female audience through important topics such as mental health, practical ways to deal with trauma, female empowerment, and a lot of emotional catharsis through Noah and Charlotte's love story. It is meant to appeal to the male audience with powerful action scenes based on the ruthless nature and gore of Game of Thrones. There is a scene that gives a nod to the award-winning fight between Oberyn and The Mountain as well as an unexpected death that is so sudden it will leave the audience gutted. However, there is a character for everyone to relate to. There is the underdog rebel who fought her way up, only to feel used. There is the decadently complex queen bee who flips the switch between cruel and kind. There is the boss queen who climbed her way to the top but still kept her humanity. There is the badass misanthrope female. There is the normal guy society tells you to be. There is still the archetypal girl and guy next door, who pull you in with their vulnerability. There is the frat bro and preppy girl that somehow everybody knows in real life and are thriving in their own world. There is tackling the difficult and deeply emotional topic of child loss and death of a loved one. There is addressing the issue that men should be allowed to feel and express powerful emotions including grief. Basically, this film was written to be positioned to make money, have mass appeal, and win awards.
As with all Los Angeles Film and Reel Club productions, this is a no budget film. Which doesn't mean no money will be spent, but only money that is absolutely necessary to get the film made. We understand how important it is to get a return on investment for what you spend your time in, which is why this film will be an equity share film. This means that any profit made will be in direct proportion to your contribution per day per role. Above the line crew and lead cast will receive two points per production and one point per pre-production day. Below the line crew and cast will receive one point per production day and one point per pre-production day. These can be pro-rated for partial days. Positions requiring equipment such as camera, sound, and possibly lighting can negotiate additional points for their equipment.
Here is the exciting news! We are looking for people for all positions both above the line and below the line. This is the full list of what we are seeking:
1. Sound Mixer/Boom Operator (please include equipment list and reel; if you don't have any that's fine, we do have equipment)
2. Assistant Editor (please include reels, program used, and editing rig; we do have an editing rig as well)
3. Gaffer (please include reels and any equipment owned; we have some as well)
4. Makeup and Hair
5. Art Department/Props Department
6. Catering (there will be a budget per head)
7. Grips
8. Swings (Interdepartmental)
9. Script Supervisor
10. Assistant Cameras
11. Production Assistants
There will be a 30 minute out time for lunch each film day. You do not have to be there every single film day, as the percentage of profit you will get is based off your total film days. Bagels in the morning and crafty through the day will be provided as well as a full hot catered lunch at the 6 hour mark.
If interested, please send your previous work experience, reels, and dates available in December - for technical positions please include your gear list. If you have any questions feel free to reach out as well!
Thank you and hope to work with you soon!
