The Los Angeles Dodgers' Player Development targets and empowers the development of our players as human beings first, baseball players second. We perpetually hunt and add value at the margins to create a winning baseball ecosystem by supporting our players as they become more confident fathers, loyal friends, and trustworthy teammates. Our baseball players will arrive at Dodger stadium equipped to navigate the game and the world.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assist the coaching staff and participate in instruction as a member of our Arizona Complex League coaching staff
• Participate in daily practice supporting Arizona Complex League coaching staff as needed on-field and off
• Execute practice exercises with players, throw batting practice, hit fungos, support with administrative tasks and documentation
• Develop and implement unique coaching content in area of expertise (i.e. infield, hitting, pitching, etc.)
• Get familiar with our internal systems, identifying areas for research to improve Player Development practices
• Operate various technologies such as Trackman, Hawkeye, virtual reality, etc. as needed
• Support front office staff, player programming, and Arizona Operations tasks as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• Former professional players (including foreign professional leagues) and/or a minimum of two years of coaching/training experience at the professional, collegiate or facility/academy level preferred
• Curious, creative, and hard-working
• Communicate effectively with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds
• Knowledge of baseball fundamentals
• Ability to assist on-field by throwing BP, hitting fungos, etc.
• Ability to integrate objective information into player development plans and create effective training environments based on plans
• Interest in personal and professional development with a desire to be involved in continuous education opportunities
• Interest in gaining exposure to various areas of Player Development and exploring areas for improving processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, and Outlook
• Proficiency in Spanish a plus
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other variable hours
• Current student with a graduation date of December 2024/January 2025 OR within one year post graduation
• Must be available to live and work in Los Angeles or your assigned office location throughout the duration of your 5-month program from March to August 2025
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
• Passionate about working for a professional sports team
• Proactive and out of the box thinking
