Job Functions:
• Responsible for pre-game on-field PR, media interview coordination, and player requests.
• Split travel with the senior director and attend Spring Training
• Develop strong relationships with players and clubhouse personnel
• Help shape the direction of the department
• Assist broadcasters, media and visiting club public relations representatives before, during and after games
• Serve as the Public Relations point of contact at select press conferences, announcements and special events
• Serve as primary editor of Media Guide and Post Season Media Notes
• Write Releases and Reports
• Serve as the Game Notes lead writer
• Supervise Press Box during games
• Create materials for dissemination to media and public which includes but is not limited to: Press Releases; Media Advisory, MLB.com, Dodgers.com, DodgerInsider.com
• Develop content of communications materials and select social media messaging
• Represent the Organization on various projects in the community and on an international level
• Regularly oversee and make direct decisions to carry out numerous Public Relations functions
• Assist with interviewing and hiring of associates
• Assist in supervision and direction of Public Relations Assistants and associates
• Create charitable outreach opportunities for key individuals
• Lead development of multi-faceted and strategic communication programs
• Responsible for development of a significant share of communications materials, select social media messaging and online content that originates from the Dodgers' PR department
• Perform related duties as assigned
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism or a related field preferred
• Minimum three to five years in Public Relations or journalism in a professional or collegiate sports setting
• Ability to interact professionally with media, players and Dodger employees
• Possess a creative and proactive ability to encourage positive stories and features on the players, the facilities, events, etc.
• Spanish fluency strongly preferred
• Demonstrate excellent oral communication skills
• Possess excellent script writing, spelling, grammar, and text composition skills
• Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to travel on a regular basis required
• Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
