Job Summary
The Clippers are searching for a Creative Director who is an innovative storyteller to establish and drive the creative vision and brand direction for the Clippers. Creative Director will develop strategies and concepts to take the brand to the next level. Responsible for leading the creative team, the Creative Director will manage the creative processes and oversee all aspects of design and production from concept through implementation, maintaining the integrity and quality of all creative assets.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Establish and maintain the look, feel, tone, personality and perspective of the Clippers brand.
• Direct and establish the creative story, driving the full creative experience through innovative storytelling.
• Produce standout and strategically focused concepts and campaigns.
• Guide the development and execution of creative assets across all aspects of the brand experience including digital, mobile, in-arena and broadcast.
• Develop and review creative briefs that provide strategic insight and creative inspiration.
• Lead the in-house creative team and manage agency relationships.
• Manage large projects from ideation to completion by developing the strategy, roadmap, and providing creative resources.
• Work closely with the content team to ensure that all digital content is on-brand and driving business goals.
• Provide creative strategy and support to all Clippers departments and brands.
• Stay current with trends in pop culture, sports, music, entertainment and the digital industry.
• Ensure that all work completed by the creative team and/or distributed by the organization meets brand standards.
• Develop and manage annual operating expense budgets.
Characteristics
/ Qualifications
• 5 years of experience in a creative leadership role.
• Knowledge of and passion for the game of basketball a plus.
• Experience working at a creative, advertising or design agency strongly preferred.
• Innovation - Displays original thinking and creativity. Meets challenges with resourcefulness.
• Experience building a successful brand.
• Ability to establish a world-class creative look and excel at visual storytelling.
• Experience with graphic design, photography, video production, and event production.
• Experience managing multiple projects and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
• Strong print and digital production experience.
• Strong business sensibility and a passion for producing compelling content.
• Previous experience driving creative and brand vision through cross-functional teams.
• Creative visionary with a proven track record of leading, managing, hiring, developing, mentoring, and motivating strong teams through growth, adversity, and change.
• Teamwork and collaboration - work with a variety of internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrates group presentation skills and promotes participation in meetings.
• Knowledge of understanding of video production / post-production process, asset management, and non-linear editing desired.
• Proficiency with graphic design and multimedia production technology such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop), Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer, and Avid Pro Tools.
• Ability to work event hours - nights and weekends.
• Demonstrated dedication with the ability to lead projects from origin through execution.
• Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a high growth, dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit with hands-on approach towards business.
• Bachelor's / Master's Degree in graphic design, visual arts, film, mass communications or broadcast journalism majors.
• Oral Communications - Speaks clearly and persuasively, listens and gets clarification.
• Written Communications - Writes clearly, grammatically, and informatively.
• Judgment - Displays willingness to make decisions and exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Includes appropriate people in decision-making process.
