This TPM will be expected to seamlessly integrate into this culture, leveraging established frameworks while driving new initiatives in a dynamic and evolving infrastructure landscape.
This role provides the opportunity to work alongside experienced PMO professionals who are deeply embedded in technical and business functions, making a tangible impact on modernizing and optimizing enterprise infrastructure.
THE JOB:
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Technical Project Manager (TPM) to drive infrastructure modernization and technical debt remediation within our Core Infrastructure division. This role will work closely with teams responsible for Global Networking, Shared Storage, Kubernetes Engineering, Datacenter Operations, Public & Private Cloud Engineering, Operating System Engineering, and Identity Services. The TPM, in partnership with TechOps leaders, will be instrumental in designing a strategic, long-term approach to tackling technical debt while balancing ongoing operational responsibilities. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that will interface with team managers, directors, and senior leadership.
The ideal candidate is a former software or systems engineer, or infrastructure technologist, who has successfully transitioned into project management. They should have experience leading large-scale infrastructure transformations, datacenter migrations, or major technical modernization initiatives. This individual thrives in complex, lean environments, enjoys bringing order to chaos, and understands how to influence both technical and business stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our infrastructure. You will have the chance to influence technical direction, drive impactful long-term change, and partner with senior leadership to solve real-world infrastructure challenges. The ideal candidate is a technically-minded project manager who thrives in complex environments and enjoys bringing order and strategic thinking across technology teams.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Develop and execute a long-term strategy for managing infrastructure technical debt and modernization efforts across multiple technology domains.
• Partner with engineering managers, directors, and senior leadership to assess current infrastructure challenges, define future-state objectives, and create a prioritized roadmap for remediation efforts.
• Balance strategic initiatives with operational realities, ensuring alignment between infrastructure teams' run-the-business activities and transformation goals.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Cloud, Networking, Storage, Security, Datacenter, and OS Engineering teams to drive efficiency and alignment on shared objectives.
• Engage and coordinate with downstream stakeholders who depend on infrastructure platforms and services that will be impacted by modernization efforts. Ensure that internal customers and users of infrastructure are aware of planned changes and have sufficient time to integrate necessary migrations or modifications into their business plans.
• Exhibit patience and strong influence when working with downstream teams that may resist change due to competing business priorities. Ensure that strategic initiatives continue to progress while minimizing disruptions to their operations.
• Develop and communicate long-term infrastructure modernization plans across multiple quarters, ensuring that impacted teams can incorporate necessary changes into their strategic planning and roadmaps.
• Drive infrastructure process improvements, automation strategies, and tooling standardization to enhance team productivity and reduce manual toil.
• Lead project planning, execution, and risk management efforts for major datacenter transformations and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Act as a thought partner and change agent, enabling operational teams to shift toward a more strategic, proactive approach to infrastructure management.
• Effectively manage resource constraints, advocating for funding or prioritization or work trade-off adjustments as necessary while maintaining realistic delivery expectations.
• Adapt to changing business needs, ensuring that infrastructure priorities remain aligned with company goals.
• Operate within our bespoke SAFe/Agile framework, where work is planned and committed on a quarterly basis, requiring the TPM to continuously reassess progress against long-term strategies and adjust execution plans accordingly.
• Ensure effective cross-team dependency management tracking, leveraging tools like Jira Advanced Roadmaps and Confluence to track milestones, dependencies, and execution status.
• Maintain a RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies) log, proactively identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks that could impact infrastructure modernization initiatives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
• 10+ years of experience in technical project management, program management, or infrastructure engineering roles with significant project ownership.
• Strong technical acumen in enterprise infrastructure domains, including networking, cloud computing, storage, security, and datacenter operations.
• Prior hands-on experience in systems engineering, cloud architecture, or networking is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of leading complex infrastructure modernization projects, including technical debt remediation, datacenter migrations, and platform lifecycle management.
• Experience working in lean environments with limited resources, driving results through influence and strategic prioritization rather than dedicated project funding.
