Principal Engineer - Remote United States
Job Summary:
THE TEAM
The Kubernetes Infrastructure team is responsible for providing stable, secure and efficient Kubernetes clusters for product teams at Ticketmaster to leverage for deployment of their applications. The team maintains standardized, well-governed, multi-tenant clusters in AWS and on-premises, across various regions and environment types. These clusters span hundreds of nodes, hundreds of namespaces, and thousands of workloads.
THE ROLE
Ticketmaster is hiring a Principal Engineer for our Kubernetes Infrastructure team to help shape the Kubernetes offering at the company. You will be responsible for the stability and security of every aspect of our clusters, from RBAC configuration to audit logging pipelines to load balancer controllers to Prometheus and Alertmanager configurations. You will write tools to automate routine and complex tasks, and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues. The position includes collaboration with development and product teams to design a scalable and supportable service-oriented architecture. This role will be expected to be a subject matter expert on Kubernetes, and help drive efforts to improve automation and tooling.
This is an exciting time to come on board with Ticketmaster, as we continue to "Return to Live". We will be focusing on efforts towards modernization and operability, expanding capacity, and enhancing our platform in a number of ways.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide expertise for Kubernetes cluster and workload configuration
• Deploy, monitor and maintain Kubernetes based services to provide ease of use and governance to teams using Kubernetes at Ticketmaster
• Work with product teams to assist with optimization of their services
• Create and maintain system and service documentation
• Proactively identify and address stability, capacity, and performance concerns
• Deploy predictable changes to all clusters with GitOps and Terraform
• Identify & implement solutions to other needs for process automation
• Checking in code for automation & tests to GitLab
• Support PCI / security compliance requirements (upgrades, defect management, etc)
• Regularly work with Jira, GitLab, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
• Liaise with other teams (Networking, Data Center Ops, Security, etc) as required
• Respond to, recover from, and prevent future occurrences of failures & outage
• Participate in on-call and potentially some after-hours support as required
REQUIREMENTS
• Experienced in distributed systems, implementing imperative and declarative operational tooling, and managing scalable architectures.
• Worked in environments where you participated in development/deployment and management of distributed systems across datacenter and public cloud.
• Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes at scale.
• Knowledge of the primary AWS services (EC2, ALB/NLB, Route53, IAM & S3) required.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex network topologies.
• Strong practical Linux-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment.
• Take part in a 24/7 On-call rotation.
• You can write production ready code (Bash, Go, Python, YAML etc…).
• COVID-19 vaccination will be required for this position subject to legally valid exemptions
