Summary of Position
Term: Contract – 1 Year
Lionsgate Canada's Television department is seeking a Development Executive, Scripted Development for a one-year contract term. This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing original scripted television series across drama and comedy. Working as part of a collaborative development team, the successful candidate will contribute to all stages of the creative process, from sourcing and shaping projects through to pitching, sale, and ongoing management of sold development.
Responsibilities
• Identify, evaluate, and champion new development opportunities, including original concepts, established intellectual property (IP), talent-driven projects, co-productions, and strategic partnerships across drama and comedy.
• Build, cultivate, and manage relationships with writers, directors, producers, agents, talent representatives, and buyers.
• Partner with creators and talent to develop original limited and returning series, providing thoughtful creative feedback throughout all stages of development.
• Create and oversee the development of compelling pitch materials and presentation packages that position projects for market success.
• Participate in and support pitches to broadcasters, streamers, and other buyers.
• Serve as a key point of contact for sold projects, managing relationships with platform and network executives throughout development.
• Collaborate with the Scripted Development team to shape and execute the overall scripted content strategy and development slate.
• Identify, nurture, and advocate for emerging and established creative talent.
• Stay informed on industry trends, market intelligence, audience behaviour, competitive programming, and buyer mandates to help guide strategic decision-making.
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including Legal, Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Production, to ensure effective communication, alignment, and execution across projects.
Qualifications and Skills
• 7 to 10 years of experience in scripted television development at a network, studio, streamer, or production company, with a demonstrated track record of successfully developing scripted series.
• Bachelor's degree in film, television, media studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
• Strong, established relationships with creative talent, representatives, producers, and buyers within the Canadian television industry.
• Exceptional creative instincts, storytelling ability, and script development expertise.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong leadership, collaboration, and entrepreneurial capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of development, production, business affairs, and contracting processes; familiarity with invoicing procedures is considered an asset.
• Producing experience is an asset.
• Extensive knowledge of and passion for the television landscape, including evolving audience trends, industry dynamics, and cultural conversations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word); experience with Airtable and Canva is preferred. Graphic design capabilities are considered an asset.

Salary/Benefits
CAD $110,000 - CAD $140,000 /year CAD
