Summary of Position
The Information Technology department at Lionsgate is at the forefront of integrating technology to drive business growth and efficiency. Our team is dedicated to leveraging data analytics, machine learning, and cutting-edge technologies to solve complex business problems and enhance our product offerings. We focus on developing and implementing data-driven strategies that support our company's objectives, employing innovative approaches to data analysis, predictive modeling, and actionable insights.
We are seeking a Data Scientist Intern for our Summer Program. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about data science, machine learning, and predictive analytics. The intern will work closely with our IT and business intelligence teams to contribute to a Trend Analysis project using datasets from IMDB, ComScore, and Variety. This project aims to refine our title recommendation system by analyzing the current and historical trends in movies and TV series, predicting future content popularity, combining data preparation, analysis, and model implementation phases with the creation of interactive Tableau visualizations and dashboards. The position involves hands-on experience in working with multiple numerical and textual datasets.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the team to understand, prepare, and analyze datasets from IMDB, ComScore, and Variety.
• Explore and analyze multiple datasets and clean them
• Implement and refine machine learning models, focusing on supervised, unsupervised, and/or clustering techniques.
• Develop visualizations and dashboards using Tableau (this would be the most recommended way of presenting), matplotlib, or seaborn to showcase findings.
• Present the project progress and insights to the team, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
Skills
• Current student in or a recent graduate of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, with a solid understanding of analytical and statistical methods
• Proficient in Python, including experience with Jupyter Notebooks or Jupyter Lab, showcasing the ability to analyze data and implement algorithms effectively
• Proficient in Exploratory Data Analysis and Data (Pre) Processing and managing large datasets
• Experience with SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake), demonstrating strong skills in data querying, manipulation, and management.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, matplotlib, seaborn) is highly desirable
• Knowledge of NLP and experience with either HuggingFace or OpenAI's API are required for embedding
• Experience with machine learning concepts and frameworks, with practical experience in applying supervised and unsupervised learning techniques
• Excellent communication skills necessary for effective presentation of findings and collaboration with the team.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a keen interest in learning and applying new technologies, highlighting adaptability and eagerness to innovate.
• Experience in AWS Sagemaker is a plus but not required
• Experience in pytorch is a plus but not required

Details
• Interns must not work more than 36 hours per week
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Interns must be current rising juniors through recent grads (within 6 months of internship start date)
• Graduate students are eligible to apply
• Interns must be available to work for the entire length of the program
• All internships are paid
• Most internship positions will require working 4 days in office
